Does anyone find the time ripper’s design really thought provoking? I mean, we know the time ripper lived in poverty, so why would he be wearing such fancy clothes, and why is robotic? Personally, I feel that the reason the time ripper is in fancy clothes is because it’s a dark mirror of the T corp collectors uniform. Which makes sense in the fact that he views himself the opposite of the collectors, giving time to those in need. But really, it may mention how the time ripper is not really that different to the collectors, taking the time of people, somehow justifying taking away something so natural to people like time. No one gave him the right to take the time, much like T corp, he simply gave himself the right to do such a thing. He also parallels the T corp yurodivya captain, which makes sense since he sees himself as a more truer revolutionary than the captain. It may also be that’s what he thought the clothes of a successful inventor would look like. Why would he appear like that then? Because his distortion happened after he couldn’t get over his brother’s death, who died after the time ripper’s completed the test to become an official inventor. Of course he’s dressed in the clothes of an inventor, when it’s what killed his brother by technically, his desire to become a successful inventor made himself his brother’s murderer. So if he’s dressed as a murderer, it’s also as an inventor, because in his mind, the two are one and the same. As for why he has a robotic body, I personally believe he see himself as an invention. Perhaps he also wished to invent some more efficient cybernetics for the workers of T corp to use. Mechanical bodies that moved faster than normal, and made the user not need sleep or food, all at a more affordable price than usual. Or maybe he already had a machine body before his brother’s death, or at least some mechanical augmentations.
