    Are the Vermonter and the Uphill Skier basically the same, except for the Cinchable cuffs and the included wool liner? I'm asking because I hear a lot of good things about the Vermonter but I'd prefer to have a Cinchable cuff for gardening.

    • @vermontglove4112
      @vermontglove4112 4 месяца назад

      That's correct. The leather glove is the same. The uphill skier size is calibrated to wear with the removable wool liner, so you may want to size down if you plan to wear them without.

    Just got the vermonter gloves today and they're the best I've had. I used to cycle through $8 wells lamont gloves they were okay and honestly exceeded expectations for the price but these are on another level. If you want serious protection and comfort, VG is it. They even did a little customization to help me pack these gloves on my rucks better. Totally worth the extra money.

    Smile!! Too bad you don't sell trade specific gloves on the web site. I'm so tired of not finding decent gloves in retail stores. I"ve worn out many dozens of leather gloves in my 76 years in construction, steel, logging, heavy equip. operation and wrenching and on and on. Gloves are essential in many jobs and good ones are not easy to find these days. Thank you!

    • @tanakax25

      It'd be nice to get a video on that but I implore you to go watch others on here explain why. As JC put it, it's more durable. To add to that, what I've found in my limited experience is that it's able to stay durable when very thin! I think that's what makes it superior to cowhide which you could make super tough by having it thick. But then you'd have less dexterity and fine touch. Just my two cents from someone that really just uses similar gloves for chopping wood and other chores. I have a pair of Duluth goatskin I got on sale, I like them more than my previous cow or deerskin. With deerskin being a good middleground between goat and cow

      Nah, you can run them for a while before conditioning. They are chock full of lanolin out of the box. That said, it's not going to hurt anything if you want to condition them right away. If they start to feel a little stiff or look dry that's when you should start conditioning. Or if they get fully soaked its a good idea to condition them after they dry completely (away from a direct heat source ;)

    I think its an awsome idea and have a pair of gloves that have been repaired already but need it again. I think it would be worth reinforcing every finger while you have them there! If your wearing through a couple fingers the others are not far behind it. I actually would love to see the finger tips reinforced on the inside and the outside like in this video right from the factory when purchased! This seems like it would be worth doing to make the longest lasting gloves possible!

    I left 3 pare of leather work gloves in my outdoor shed over the winter. When I got to them they had mold on them. I figured they were ruined so I couldn’t make it worse. I smoked them in white vinegar. Somewhere between 2 and 10 hours. Then scrubbed them liberally with a brush. After rinsing them with water I conditioned them like in this video and they look and feel great know. If you have a better suggestion for mold on leather gloves let me know.
