Restoring the Legendary M1919 Browning Machine Gun
Happy Thanksgiving! This was great history !
I have hunted with a 270 starting in the 1970s. Love it, inch and half high at 100 yards. If I missed it, it was not the guns fault. Great gun.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. I've wanted to get a copy of Hell I Was There for a long time. Maybe some day. Appreciate the great video.
Happy Thanksgiving, great channel 👍💪🇺🇸
Thanks! You too!
GREAT VIDEO!WHAT A MAN!!!🇺🇸
Thank you for watching!!
Awesome 👍
Thank you!
What a true American Legend.
Absolutely! 👍
Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you. You too!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Same to you!
If up for it. Create a episode about combination guns.
That’s a great idea. We touched on the LeMat revolver in our Doc Holliday episode and it definitely sparked some interest and questions. It would be cool to feature a bunch of them in a single video. Thanks! 👍
Wonderful..
Thank you!
His name was learned as a lad. As I gained intrest in firearms and read what ever I could find, and allot was Keith's. Excellent video.
Thank you for watching, much appreciated!
Cool
Definitely!
Great video. I love the case, and if you put a few FENDER, or GIBSON, and other music related stickers all over the case, it would certainly pass a cursory glance. I like how you finish the video with your EDC, the MG 42, lol. Keep up the great work. Be safe and well, mate. Bob. Australia.
Thanks, will do! Guitar stickers is a perfect idea. I think it may actually fit a guitar too, we'll test it out!
Guns of Jim Cirillo next!!!!!
Great suggestion! Thank you!
44 MAG
👍
These videos would be much better if the narrator would read a bit slower instead of yapping away at 100 mph. Good content, poor delivery
We'll take that into consideration. Thanks for watching/commenting.
I thought it was a goner, well done!
It was definitely tip-toeing the line! Thanks!!
I learned a lot from this. Very well done!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!
I started reading Outdoor Life in 1954 and was attracted to Jack OConner but there was always Elmer “big Hat Keith my buddies and I would always argue about who was right Jack or Elmer. He’s the reason scores of boys my age are avid readers and shooters. Still love my rifles!
Interesting material is way more motivating to read for sure, especially when you’re young.
Used to carry a 4 inch barreled model back in the 80s. Always liked the Diamondback.
They’re great pistols!
To bad about the pitting. How many times did it take to flip the coin to get it to center in the shot?
Yeah we got it looking as good as possible with how bad it was but still a little bit of abrasions. Took quite a few shots to get it centered and also not bouncing out of frame 😂
Bought a 300 weatherby rifle as a western hunting rifle. It never gave me the accuracy I expected. Had it debarred into a 300 Winchester caliber and it gives consistent 1/2 inch groups. I didn’t like the double radius shoulder!
In 1975 I bought a weatherby mk5 in 270 weatherby, 49 years latter it still shoots as good as day one,the greatest rifle I have owned.
They are fantastic rifles! Thanks for watching!
All of us have sold rifles that we later regretted. Mine was a 257 weatherby mag. An amazing Caliber
There is always the regret of the one that got away!
Great video, terrific content. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just discovered your channel. Excellent content. Great production. Keep up the good work
Much appreciated!
If someone carves another Mt. Rushmore, but dedicated to Great American Gun Designers, Mr. Keith and Mr. Browning need to be shoulder to shoulder...
Agree 100%
Thanks so much for the links to the speaking. I always wondered what his voice was like. And that's exactly what I thought it would be.
You’re welcome!
Would love that on my commander
We can make it happen! 😉
I like jeweled bolts on rifles looks good
Definitely!!
With great respect Mr. Keith and thank you for the .44 magnum.
He did some great work, thanks for watching!
Thell Reed (15:54) is the stepfather of Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was the head armorer for the movie RUST. During filming in 2021 cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed by actor Alec Baldwin after live ammo was loaded in his revolver for a scene rehearsal.
Yup, he's still alive and kicking. Unfortunate incident involving his step-daughter for sure.
JMB was way ahead of his time.
Makes you wonder how many designs never saw the light of day.
71+ year old FUD here. It is with geographic pride that I can say that I live just a few miles from where Roy Weatherby grew up in a rural area southeast of Salina Kansas. I have known several of his contemporaries. One gentleman from our church, a local businessman, regaled me with tales of he and Roy Weatherby’s adventures growing up together. Around 1983 or so, when one of that gentleman’s employees was retiring, he just phoned Roy directly and had him ship a Mark V directly to a local gun store in time to be presented to the employee at his retirement party. Sadly all those folks are no longer with us. With that said, the only two of Roy’s creations I have ever had any interest in are the 270 Weatherby Magnum (his first) and the 257 Weatherby Magnum. I refer to the others as Weatherby Meat destroyers, but I digress. I once saw a friend drop a nice Whitetail buck, one shot grave yard DRT at something over 400 yards with a 257 using the 87 grain bullet. There was a cross wind but I can’t say how much. Was it just the rifle/ cartridge combination? No. My friend was an excellent shot who knew where to put that little bullet. Roy’s theory that it didn’t really matter where you hit an animal it would be instantly killed has been thoroughly debunked. His son, Ed and now his grandson Adam, current CEO and the entire management no longer espouse that theory. On the other hand, Elmer Keith’s theory that only big, heavy bullets were good for use on big game has also been debunked. Happy hunting boys and girls! 😊
Thank you for watching and leaving this great comment!
Keith was and still is a legend He has influenced countless numbers of shooters including myself. Imagine if you will what thus man could have done withtbe technology we have today eith getting his knowledge out to others. This was a long time coming and excellent video on one of the greatest gun scribes in 20th century bar none.
Thank you for that great comment!! So true!
Well done.
Thank you!!
Elmers buddy....
Yes sir!
Awesome video...well explained! They are indeed classy rifles...even the Vanguard today
Yes they are! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Weatherby's are no guarantee of an absolute one shot kill. If you shoot accurately you don't need to experience the recoil, expense and chamber throat burning of these hopped up magnums !
The Cabela's store in Boise had an Elmer Keith display for a while, complete with an animatronic Elmer Keith at his desk. There was a display of firearms that included a bunch of Rugers that all had the same serial number. It's been gone for quite a few years now. I guess his family decided that they wanted the collection back so they took the whole thing down.
Wish that display was still available to see. Wonder what happened to that animatronic Keith
I’ve often thought about getting a Mk V in 300Wby but the ammo costs has been the stopping point but they are top tier rifles!
Yeah, they definitely aren't cheap to shoot.
@ My 7x57 seems to kill deer with no problems out to my self-imposed 300yd limit. I’ve hit steel plates at 400 and 500 yards with the round but I figure that if I can’t stalk within 300yds or pick a decent tree for my climber, the deer gets a pass. Besides, I’ve had to help find a few deer that shouldn’t have been shot due to the distance outweighing the self proclaimed sniper’s ability level… Yeah, I’ll stay within my 300yd comfort zone and try not to be one of “those guys”, lol!
I really tried to watch this as I'm a life lolng Weatherby shooter. But the andom, chaotic piano music drove me nut's. why do so many presenters insist we listen to their music. Much less Louder than the script? KnifeMaker/Retired after over 47+ Years in the craft
Sorry it bothered you. Always mixed reviews on background music.
He went to early!!!!!
Absolutely. We could have used more articles and stories for sure!
When I was 10 years old in the late 70s I was given a copy of Elmer’s autobiography Hell I was there. I bet I read that book from cover to cover 6 or 7 times throughout the late winter that year. Elmer Keith inspired me to learn to reload and dream of hunting the “Big Seven” in Africa. He was a true American original that inspired many young men and some old ones too.
Agreed, he was an interesting and inspiring guy. Need more like him.
Elmer Keith was instrumental on 44 magnum? Interesting individual, but some of his adventures and stories are somewhat questionable!? But entertaining.🤔
Definitely an entertaining fellow. Thanks for watching!
Please do an article on Bob Milick , not sure if that's spelt correctly his hand loading technique was just incredible. I used to devour every word of his articles , I learnt so much back in the late 70s and 1980s, sadly he passed away somewhere near the end of the 80s . Maybe an article on Bob would be a fitting memorial and tribute as well .
Good suggestion, we'll add him to our list. Thanks!
He was the very - Definition - of a Life Well Lived !
100%
He lived a life that most of us could only dream of.
Definitely!
What a legend 👏🏽
Most definitely!
