Troweling with tooth side of trowel on back of tile isn’t back buttering use flat side on back of tile and use half inch x half inch on floor and if you have to pull one up call Brock Lesnar.Point is you don’t trowel floor and tile.
@@jf9686 totally acceptable to notch back of tile and floor. Come on?!
What you are doing is not back buttering you should use the flat side to “back butter” the tile. You wouldn’t use a square notched knife to put butter on a piece of toast would you?Your video is showing people the wrong way to install tile with excess thinset they don’t need to purchase. If you’re set in your ways don’t take advice but if not do and also get some leveling clips and save yourself a lot of time
@@jf9686 putting mud on back of the tile is by definition “back buttering” whether it’s flat trowel or notch. You don’t much large format tile do ya? And even I need to I use leveling clips
@@Apexjasonmorganllc Yes I do a lot of large format tile been in flooring for over 45 years probably longer than you’ve been alive and have never had a customer call me up about a broken tile not once
U talked, 😂😂😂 now u just need a real thumbnail. Good value provided
I love the ASMR on stuff like this
The tattoos have to be shown more often, thats yur super power
U need a cheap microphone, so u can be the narrator after the facts. Or u can do asmr but u gota have scene changes and really good audio when u record. Easiest way is narrator later on capcut
I need some value, i need to know the tips and tricks u r using. And u need a hook, hook would be "these suction cups ARE a MUST HAVE, FOR THE very last piece" as you see we have spacers and you notice the way i trowel the Mudd is the key, why? I have no idea! But you do! Add value w narration. Thats where capcut comes into play.
Nice ASMR
Im running it up my guy

Doesn't look like u know what u are doing
And thats how you fuck up the floor
Come on
Not if you know what you’re doing. I will say that using the vibrator that close definitely makes me a lil sweaty lol. If possible I try to use a sharp utility knife, but sometimes that can be worse.

Wow that one looks incredible

You need to say the name of the company that Dan works for so others don't hire that company until Dan is gone. Dan is damaging more than he installed. It looks like Dan didn't install his work correctly anyway. Please blast that company's name because they shouldn't have ppl working for them that clearly don't care about the customers' home or pockets.
I believe he runs his own business. But yes he’s one of the worst I’ve seen in a while
I'm so scared to hire anyone else. I would probably do better than most myself with zero experience. 😆
@@shaennavincent5082 can’t say I blame you. But there are some very talented men and women out there. Just gotta make sure you do your homework if you decide to hire.
A cool little trick I learned was before you put the piece down. To be set, do not put thinset on the back of it and just get your mud right, And if you think your mud might have voids in it. Set your dry tile down on top of it. Pick it back up and you can see where the voids are. Because the mud won't stick to the back of the tile without thinset.
Yes sir! Once you do it for a while you can gauge about how much mud you need and usually get it on the first try. It’s a fine balance! Too much mud and you can’t get the tile to go down all the way. Too little mud and it doesn’t bond good and leaves voids.
@@Apexjasonmorganllc exactly 👍
@@BonBon770 thank you for watching! Appreciate it

@@BonBon770 thank you for saying that! I get told a lot that I’m underrated on social media. I never started it for recognition. I just wanted to put out sound info! I saw so much bad info on here so that’s why I started. I am grateful for your views and your input! It really means a lot

Love your videos man. Actual tile work not selling stuff. No BS just straight to the facts.
Appreciate you saying that!!
Incredible. I did mountain motifs on a couple showers recently.. child's play compared to this. Very nice.
Thank you
I know this is an old video, but you mention most long plank tile like this come bowed from the factory. Doesn't it naturally pull up into the bow as it sets also causing lippage? I started using levelling clips and thirds as soon as tile started going 1' x 2' and I assume the effect would be worse with long plank tiles like these. You put the level on each end, but not in the middle.. But you clearly know what you are doing. Not using clips would make me much faster. How do you avoid lippage from the bow without leveling clips?
These tiles were fairly flat with a slight bow. We kept the joints random so not doing a half stagger helped with lips. It really depends on the tile you’re working with. I do use clips when I need to but not on every tile.
@@Apexjasonmorganllc Okay, that makes sense. If you don't mind a follow up. What is your tolerance for whether to use clips or not? I typically don't use clips on walls, or at least not as many, with higher quality flat tiles. But haven't even tried a floor without tons of clips for quite a few years. Maybe I'm worrying needlessly..
@@markoshun I’ll use clips if the stagger is a 50/50. Or if the tile has a noticeable crown. These days the clips and wedge quality it way better so I use clips a little more often. If it’s natural stone I do not use clips. You just have to the best judgement call for each tile your setting.
@@Apexjasonmorganllc Ok, got it. Thanks so much. I have come to automatically use them. Just threw me seeing a pro tile setter not using them. I do general renoes, so not tile all the time. I used a Mexican hand-made tile on a shower surround once and even had to throw out the spacers.. was fun. I've got some slate to set on this job coming up, so probably no clips on those. Will check out more of your videos. Thanks
@@markoshun thanks a lot for watching! Yeah anything natural stone I don’t use them.
Rediculous flatness my man. Nice job
Beautiful install
Outstanding!
In Florida, that's still common practice for setting marble. Thinset, mud, Thinset..... I'm not a great marble guy, but I do, do repairs and I do do marble showers but not floors. I'm not fast enough with live mud. What's funny is right around like 2007. Or so I started seeing marble being set with thin set only. I don't even know if that's right or not, but we used to make fun of it. Because the whole point of Marble is it supposed to be level..... Maybe you have some insight on that. On top of slab too. And that's a whole another conversation about prepping the slab and self-leveling or flashing that a lot of guys don't do specifically with Marble/tile ,It makes a lot easier if you fix the substrate. Florida is 95% concrete.
You can set marble with thinset. Marble does have to be level so prep is king! The mud set method works very well with marble that isn’t the same thickness!
@@Apexjasonmorganllc You know what? I think you just hit the nail on the head with that. That's probably why they started doing live. Mud said because of the different thicknesses that make sense. Thanks for your response and a funny side note in Florida. Marble has always been butt, jointed pushed together with no joint. And I guess Florida has been doing it wrong forever. Because even the N TCA requires a 116th. So for the last couple years, any repairs or like I have a buddy of mine who's really good at mud like you. He has been now adding 116th spacers.
@@BonBon770 funny you say that because way back in the day of 12x12 granite squares on countertops. We always butted those tight. But yes you’re correct you do need a spacing in marble. That’s a big part of mud set is the different thickness. It also allows you meet height requirements that you’d normally have to spend a lot of time prepping.
@@Apexjasonmorganllc Good conversation, And didn't those 12 / 12 have a beveled edge? So even when they were butted together when grouted, it looked like they had a small eighth...... And I have never really seen like your typical travertine Florida marble floor ever have anything wrong with it when it was butted together..... Until recently I just repaired 18 pieces on a condo on the beach and they actually were tented like tile on a concrete slab. I couldn't believe it. It was a fun repair, though. Mud bed was like 2 inches.
@@BonBon770 yeah I did 1/16 joints on this one. The marble is sizey as well so couldn’t go too tight. Thanks for watching and the compliment
Beautiful work as always Jason

Nice!!!

Big favor to ask. I am going to install tile in my living room and kitchen. My home had 12" vinyl glued down under the carpet throughout. Once removed I have the glue swirls. Can I just paint on MAPEI MAPELASTIC AQUA DEFENSE barrier then tile without removing the glue.
Depends on how tall the ridges are. And if it is stuck good? I typically try to remove everything and start clean
So are you done with the shower yet?
Yes
Just haven’t posted any finish yet.
@@Apexjasonmorganllc OK , I was looking forward to it.
Well the only thing i don't agree is that hen you put the thinset on the floor and also on the back of the tile the lines from the trowel suppose to go in the same way, normally taking the small side of the tile....
Name of trowel
use a 1/2" for that big ass tile
I need one of those tools
