He re-broke his once-reconstructed hand in the summer of 2007, a few months after "Weighing Souls With Sand" was released, and he took his own life roughly a year later in April 2008 after complications from his injury left him unable to play music. These lyrics point to his feelings of inadequacy of being the musician he wanted to be after his injury, and who he felt he was expected to be, as he was a perfectionist. They also allude to his wife confronting him for being so down on himself, which he doesn't deny. "Wait until we're dead" refers to being exempt from the pain of life via death. It's also calmer compared to the songs on "Weighing Souls With Sand" because of his physical limitations, as well as to reflect the peace of dying after suffering for so long. It hurts so much to know that this song was basically Kris' goodbye note.
Always thought that the refrain goes: "Wait until your death" or "Wait until you're dead"
I think it was his way of fighting depression. And the injury took that away from him.
@StrangeMachines1 I agree. There's a certain point of depression where you just want to be heard, but don't necessarily care to be understood. You just need an ear to listen. I think this is where he was mentally when he made Weighing Souls with Sand. He wanted his music to be heard, but didn't want anyone to necessarily know what he was going through, which is why he didn't release his lyrics. Most logical explanation, but it still hurts to think about the anguish he was experiencing.
Thank you for the lyrics, after K and M are now dead... that line is even more striking deep... Maybe this track was originally recorded for WSWS? There was a mention from, the early interview of 15 recorded tracks (3 goes to WADL EP and one as a vynil bonus), plus this one musically fits and at the same time disconnects. Maybe lyrics were written long after recording and added to the track.
