PT-17 Stearman operated by the Lone Star Flight Museum in Houston,Tx

Come along for a ride in the open cockpit of a vintage PT-17 Stearman bi-plane. This was definitely the best aviation experience I've ever had. The open cockpit and sound of the radial engine makes this one of the best airplane rides anyone could experience. These rides are offered by the Lone Star Flight Museum to the general public at a very reasonable price and the proceeds help fund the ope...

Thank you greatly for this video! In the drum bottom there is very small rubber gasket that seems it would seal against shaft? Mine has small pieces broken out? Any thoughts or does new gear case come with it? Ty
You should send this video to Schlage as an enhancement request. I'm perplexed why Schlage doesn't include a gasket with new lock purchases knowing this is a known issue. Most other lock manufacturers include fitted gaskets with their locks.
I have had two schlage locks fail due to the same issue, I will try this out, thanks!
Old machines last longer.
We are having the same issue with our townhouse on the gulf, very hot and humid. We will be there in 2 weeks and plan to try this. Thank you!
Following up- how did this work? Did the gasket solve your issues? We're having the same electronic issues with humidity. Thanks!
Yes, it’s been working great. I haven’t had to replace the lock since I installed the gasket last June.
Yea .. its seized. That's the trick. How do you get enough torque on it to unsieze it and keep that agitator plate from rotating.
I can’t get this cover off for the life of me!
Thanks for doing this video! I gave the exact same wash machine and there are issues with the agitator. It seems it my be the washplate bit if it isnt the issue then is the transmission. Thank you for pinning the top comment, too! That'll save me some time if i need to replace the transmission. God bless you for all of your help and willingness to post some advice that'll help the next person.
Hi i just stumbled upon this video as I am having issues myself. I have had the lock replaced 4 times already, and now working on my 5th. Have you had any more issues since you installed this gasket? I am also in the SETX area with high humidity.
No, Mine has been working since Summer 2023 with no problems. The gasket keeps the moisture out so it can’t condense on the circuitry inside the lock.
@@claytonmarcelle2612 Great to hear! I will be doing this exact same thing when my new replacement arrives in a few days!!
Any updates since you replied to this comment? I just installed mine with the DIY gasket and silicone, on the third lock, can’t beat this Houston humidity.
Awesome video. Can’t believe I found this haha. Do you think this would work for preventing heat from transferring from the door to the lock?
Worthless video... doesn't demonstrate how to use or adjust it.
You're an actual life saver! Doing the lords work lol
Thanks for the great explanation and step by step video, you did an outstanding job!
name an easy job look so hard
Good video but I must be doing something wrong. Cannot stay on the glide path. Help.
I fixed the transmission but not it won’t fill with water. Any idea?
Did you figure out why it wouldn't fill with water ? I'm having the same issue.
@@MikeDemeulenaere yes I had to do a system reset. It’s on the manual
I have this exact same model and I found a pretty easy way to get the agitator plate off is to take 2 shoestrings and push both underneath the edges and then tie them together and pull upward
Great Video, huge help. I wonder, was there a reset or calibration needed after replacement of this transmission.
I had the exact problem and couldn't find a video based on my description. Luckily I stumbled across this repair video and it worked perfect. Very good job on the step by step description. My wash machine is a Maytag MVWB765FC2 but seems almost identical except my agitator is the taller style. Same process. Thanks again!!!
Glad you found it useful!

Does anyone know if the gear case contains grease inside?
Does anyone know if the o-rings or seals are available for purchase?
Thank you so much! I just had my 2nd one fail within 3 days. It’s drenched. Any chance I can buy one from you?
Hi Leigh, I would be happy to. I went through four locks before installing this gasket. It’s been a huge help for me. Would $10 be okay and I will pay for the postage? If you could send a Zelle payment to claytonpmarcelle@gmail.com and email me your address I will drop one in the mail to ya. You’re welcome to call me at 281-658-6886 if you have any questions. Clayton
@@claytonmarcelle2612 I'd be interested in buying one as well.
great video, I am trying something different but if it does not work I will try this. Thanks for the video.
I tried desiccant packets stuffed inside the door but it didn’t help because they get saturated quickly.
I used the flat end of my 6 foot post hole digging bar to pound the shaft of the transmission through the bottom of the tub. Worked like magic!
Did you put a new rotor on too?
Thanks so much! My machine is older but similar- you saved me a bunch of money!
You’re welcome! Glad you found it useful.
Thanks for taking the time and recording you saved me a bunch of time and money👍🏼.
Does that shaft does move in two pieces
Curious if you think this could have been done without pulling the inner tub? My agitator plate came up relatively easily, just have to pull straight. It's the dang large nut that does not want to move on mine. I've got a plumbing wrench that sort of fits the nut, but looks like I'll be buying the spanner wrench.... Thanks for the video.
Have you had any trouble with your washer leaving dark stains on your clothes since replacing the transmission? Since doing the maintenance our maytag has done this. Any idea what it could be?
No, I haven’t had that problem. Is it possibly grease or excess Silicon sealant that is getting by the seal?
I had a big nut I had to remove 1st so you don't break the water balancer ring off the top of the drum. Hope that helps someone
Just got done. Took roughly 3 hours from start to finish. Beating out the transmission was a bear. Ended up using an asphalt tamper to get more leverage and a 2 pound sledge. That in itself took an hour and a half. Thank you for this video!
Congrats! Glad ya got it!
Awesome tutorial! Made approaches butter! 50-60FPM here everytime!
17/16 bolt lol
Fantastic presentation on this newer model! Only one I could find similar to my unit. Very smart to use plumber's lube on the seal. My unit failed after 9 months under waranty. Still waiting on the manufacturer's parts for the clutch. Two months waiting! Rotor screw came loose and caused the failure to drive parts.
ruclips.net/user/shortsHm_98AmaYBQ?feature=share Don’t waste your money
Great video!! Question wy you changed the transmission because it wasn't working??
Great video! This helped me see if it was something I could fix and gave me the confidence to know I wasn’t going to mess something up. Thank you!!!
My washer just hit 3yrs old and it’s making a horrible sound on the spin cycle. Isn’t this transmission covered by the Maytag 10 yr warranty??
Thank you for this! I didn't hit Alt twice lol, floated right over the runway at 3000
Was yours leaking water as well along with the noise...
Thank you so much for this video! Brilliant!
Any suggestions on why the machine clanks during aggitation now? With the new transmission?
I just did this job and have the same problem. The agitator seems to move slower and won’t move fully. I think it’s a defective transmission. Everything else appears to be working great. I can’t even get it to wash a full cycle now without throwing errors.
Clayton, is there any way to get this unit to put the correct amount of water in it while it washes? My machine was obviously designed by Greta thunburg!
Gotta love Greta.😂 There is a plastic tube on the back of the unit that plugs into a sensor on the control board. You should try checking this tube to ensure it’s connected well. The sensor uses this tube to detect water level in the washer. There are some YT videos that show how to get to this tube. Hope this helps.
Hi Clayton. I was wondering if this part is attached to the Drive motor.
Thanks for the video. Stuck on one thing. What is the size of the spanner 🔧 for the splin shaft nut.
You can skip a whole lot of steps if you actually want to go to the expense of buying the parts to make this repair you only need to remove four bolts on the bottom and the wash plate and spanner nut could a 23-in 2x4 miter the end so you can fit it up inside the tub easily put a piece of wood on top of the transmission to protect it in case you're not replacing it put a bottle check in between the 2x4 and on top of the transmission spine couple clicks with your hand and it'll slide out like butter no need to remove the top no need to remove the tub unless you want to
Thank You so much!!! This comment needs to be pinned to the top. After using a mallet for 15-20 minutes, I tried your method and it just came apart in 30 seconds. You sir are are a saint and a genius.
where did you get the replacement transmission?
Haha all you have to do is whip out your credit card and don't look at what it cost
