Hi, I recently bought a bamboo rat (the smaller species), I feed him apples, carrots, and corn, what else can I feed him?
My bamboo rat usually eats sugarcane , sweet corn and bamboo. Then there are supplements such as piglet feed, which will keep them strong.

My bamboo rat sleeps in a glass cage, and the rest of the day I put him in a big steel wire cage, I wanted to build him even a bigger steel wire cage outside (heated) but 2 days ago it started to destroy with his big teeth the steel wire! How is he so strong? Now I don’t know of what material do I need to build the cage, I’m scared that he will escape

Where are you located? Are they good pets like Guinea Pigs?
This is in Thailand. I think Bamboo Rats can be more wild animals than guinea pigs. We have had female and male bamboo rat since baby. She now loves to be hug by people. Male bamboo rat sometimes not as friendly than female and male likes go more by himself.

How did you tame a bamboo rat
I got a bamboo rat when she was a small baby and playing with her every day and be like a mother and giving her food and safe place to sleep. Of course I think she will run away if I let her go alone in a bamboo jungle. 😊 or maybe not, we are friends. ❤

Yes, she is a pet for us. She loves to hug to people and she is used to us from her young age. She is so sweet and cute to us❤️ you can see more videos of her in our channel too.
