    chatgpt requires some more complex prompt engineering i think it would be better to, instead of asking for creating an entire line based on a famous symphony, to start from a simple motif, and ask him for a couple of motivic development and transformations, its similar to what we would do by hands, but without all the trial and error part, speeding up the process, specially in things like time signatures, syncopation and creating polymeters between treble and bass

    Hey, amazing video, i have a question - how did you learn, like, all of this? Im trying to learn how to compose and create music myself, can do pretty okay songs, but the more advanced stuff associated with music theory,not just the basiscs seems like a vomplete abstraction to me. Were you recreating songs? Analyzing them? What was your learning curve? Would really appreciate a response Thanks in advance and have an awesome day

    • @lynnlo
      @lynnlo 4 месяца назад

      Hey thanks for leaving a comment. When I was starting out, I was already fascinated by music, especially classical and wanted to learn how to write. I started by learning to use a multitude of software to see what sticks and watching a couple RUclips videos. I can recommend @OrchestrationOnline and @8bitMusicTheory for writing conventions and technique and @Richard.Atkinson for great analysis. My person tip is to write something regularly like a small piece every day or week.

  • @brianmoore3294
    @brianmoore3294 6 месяцев назад

    It may have done better if you had assigned a role at the beginning of the prompt. For example, "you are a highly trained music composer" or even, "you are the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven".

    OK you've covered some good things here but (1) You're speaking to fast / not clearly in places which makes it difficult when you are (2) also inconsistently captioning what you are showing. It's also the basics of shortcuts really, I wouldn't say this is by any means the ultimate guide. Thumbs up anyways.

    Nice to the point video! Just a suggestion, it would probably make more sense to use Area2Ds and their body_entered signal. Also, you should queue_free() to be safe. To keep track of the collected coins you could have an autoload script, that emits a signal when the amount is changed. The label could be connected to that signal and change the text accordingly. The player could access the autoload to increase the coin amount.

    • @lynnlo
      @lynnlo 9 месяцев назад

      These are some great optimization tips! I haven't been on godot for a while and it seems like I did forget to use queue_free(). I'll mention this in the next episode.

    Currently trying to figure out why I would use something other than chatgpt, I have a paid version and I have good prompting skills. Its way faster imo. Maybe the sweet spot is getting chatgpt for an outline and then moving forward with copilot and then final revision with gpt

    • @lynnlo
      @lynnlo 11 месяцев назад

      In my opinion, I think Copilot is more coding while chatgpt is more general. Even if GPT4 is a better model in almost every regard, the lack of focus in training data causes it to underfit too often. They're both great tools to help with programming projects nonetheless.

      Is there a quick way to edit chords instead of erasing them and completely rewriting them in? Like edit notes within the score one by one? I don’t know all the quick keys yet… but I did pretty ok on my first score. I played the piano and exploded the scores into my string quartet. Oh and string glissandos but portamento style not like falling style

    • @lynnlo
      @lynnlo Год назад

      I gotcha! These two I can answer directly but this gives me a good idea for a video. You can select and drag notes in a chord with the mouse. But I find it easier to select a note in a chord and use up and down arrow keys to move it. To put in a portamento, you should use the proper glissando line for notation purposes (though functionally it doesn't matter). In the inspector, select playback and set it to portamento instead of chromatic. Hope this helps!
