Hi, apologies for the late reply. Yes, Extender and base are the same thing. If you can afford it, a good quality printmaking paper is best, Somerset or Arches, they are one offs, but a smooth paper will be fine, just don't use cheap cartridge paper. Cheers Colin

@@winelodge thanks Colin, yes, am on the brink of starting, just waiting for the screenprinting medium to arrive, hopefully today! I used to do a lot of screenprinting in the dim and distant past, was a member of a co-op in Wolverhampton called Community Posterprint (aka Cheapo Cheapo) and we printed posters and T-shirts for campaigns, bands and the students union. But up until recently I've not felt that home was the best place to try printing. That's why it's been so helpful to rethink the methodology and simplify this and other printmaking techniques to make them more feasible to achieve in my kitchen studio! I loved the effect with the charcoal technique, want to try that, maybe try combining that with watercolour and water-soluble crayons. Thanks again for sharing your methods

Hi Sally, one word of warning the extender base can take a long time to dry!

@@winelodge oh yes that makes sense, probably the medium will make it quite sticky, so I'll either need to do it all in one layer, or leave it a few days before 2nd layer. Thank you!
