Keystone, SD to Hill City, SD - 1880 Train - Motorcycle Ride - Old Hill City Road
Was just there last week. Flannigans Cabin has deteriorated quite a bit in just 3 years. The small building on the corner of the cabin has collapsed. And that stack of logs net to it has fallen.
Sad to hear that. Thanks for the update
Hello. We made it to the old cabin. We are having a hard time finding the history of the cabin. Does anyone know the history or where to find it?
Great Video !!! I haven't been on that part of Neck Yoke rd yet. I only live 20 minutes from Iron Mt Rd in Hermosa.
Thanks! From Hermosa you could come up Hwy 79 and cut across lower spring creek rd to Neck Yoke rd.
I took that train ride when I was down there last July. A word of advice, you might want to bring a little cushion along for your tusshy. Those seats can get a little hard after a while. But it's nice leisurely trip so it's a good way to give your feet a little bit of a rest.
What a great video. My wife and I spent a lot of time in spearfish canyon. Your video showed a few more stops we need to go to during our next visit. P.S. the Latchstring restaurant in savoy has the best French toast.
Great video!
Thanks!
👊😎🤘
Awesome footage. Aerial views are perfect. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this video together. Its definitely gorgeous out there in the Black Hills and riding like no other. If anyone is interested or considering this trip I say stop procrastinating and just do it, you will not be disappointed. Ride hard and be safe
Beautiful video. I have a spyder myself and it is so nice to see well done travel videos with one in it. I can also relate to the close father-(adult)son bond. Thank you... Please keep posting more!
I will never understand how or why anyone who has been here could choose to spend the remainder of their life anywhere else. But I left and I want to go back to visit my heart.
Best video I have seen of the area! I can't wait for our trip in a month!
Thank you, hope you enjoy your time here!
The 1st time I saw that train in person I was lost for wood it was so cool.
I live In spearfish
Need to work on your narrating I can't watch your video because your voice is too irritating not trying to be a dick just letting you know how I feel
Really great Vid - great video quality and very good narration
Thank you Chris! We definitely try our best and hope to improve every video released! Don't forget to subscribe to be notified of the latest videos! Thanks!
You make nice videos. I really appreciate the Google Map showing the actual route. I am disappointed that, in your first video, you didn't take 16A out of Custer, SD to Mt Rushmore. Maybe you can film that ride in another video.
Thank you for the comments. Yeah we will cover that road in another video.
Thanks for the ride. I've been on Needles and Iron hwy. It's been 25yrs since I was there, well my wife and I are getting the chance to come this year during the rally (not going to Sturgis) we'll be staying in Hot Springs and tour the southern region and take in all the beauty. I will use yer videos as tour guide. Again Thanks
The southern Black Hills is beautiful as well. Our next few videos will focus on the Southern Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota.
Thank you for this excellent series of Videos, I hope you keep em coming. I wish I had your talent. Last fall, 2022, I purchased a new Indian Scout from Sturgis Indian. My son and I rode it about a hundred miles around the Black Hills. Our fist leg was Spearfish Canyon, it was magnificent. This summer I plan to ride SD Hiway 44 from about Parkston to, I believe it ends at Silver City. One of my favorite places on this Earth is the Badlands of South Dakota. I just don't know how to do good vids, but maybe you can do one on the Badlands sometime? Thanks for the education and entertainment.
Thank you for the kind review. Hwy 44 ends where it meets Hwy 385. As far as the badlands, unfortunately flying a drone is illegal in the National Parks so it would have to be only on the bikes. We are thinking about it.
Thank you so much for your excellent videos!
Glad you enjoyed them!
Beautiful. On my list. Thank You. Ride safe out there.
Thanks Brian!
Excellent!
Thank you!
Thanks for the great video. I was expecting a gopro video and this was so much better. As someone that moved to the Black Hills a few years ago I loved that you made the history the focal point and used the video as a visual aid. This is a beautiful and informative video, thanks.
Thank you!
Helping grow your channel!very interesting video! Thank you!
Thanks Neil!
👍
I wish me and my two son’s do it
Been there 15 years ago
Great job! What time of the year did you shoot the video? Obviously, not during the rally.
This was filmed in July
😎👍
Thanks!
Went to college as Black Hills State, didn’t have a car, just my 200cc Suzuki X5 Invader. We were partying in Deadwood (1966, before legal gambling) and rode back to Spearfish in a snow storm. Both of my parents attended the college in the 1930s.
Hi Ted! Wow you rode a motorcycle in a snowstorm? I can't say I've ever done that! Haha. Glad you made it back safely.
@@605rides3 grew up in Pierre, only had a motorcycle through several SD winters.
That arched bridge at the beginning? I was there when those huge laminated wooden arches were being brought in. They were being hauled one at a time, inverted, when one tipped over. Truck was rounding a curve and the thing tipped over. Didn’t see it fall, but was there as the driver and a few others were running around stopping traffic. I think it was the late 60s or early 70s..
Absolutely. We remember when they used to be at the corner of Cathedral Drive and Mt. Rushmore Road back in the day!
Excellent.
Thank you!
Just did it.. it’s incredible
Awesome!
Very nicely done video. And great that your dad is riding with you.
Thank you Bob!
I was up that way with my daughter last Easter weekend visiting another daughter and my grandchildren. They live next to the Blackhills in Newcastle Wyoming. Of course the weather was mixed from rain, snow, and sun, but it was still awesome to have visited many places up there. I'll have to go back up there on a bike sometime. BTW, nice Victory! It was nice to see some familiar places up there. Thanks for the ride!
Haha yeah there's a saying here in South Dakota; if you don't like the weather, wait a day and it'll change! Glad you enjoyed your time visiting!
Nice Video! As a major Victory and Spyder Advocate - I love that both are in this video!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hi, my friend Wow! It's a video that gives me so much emotion and energy to my life Especially, you're so good at explaining Have a comfortable day 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
These videos are incredible. You deserve many more subscribers.
Thank you!
Love riding old hill city rd!❤👍
So do we!
I've road these roads for last 11 years.
Awesome!
Would like to watch it but that speeded up video makes me dizzy. I'm sure it was some pretty scenery.
I love videos like this especially when they go through towns. I'm always freezing the video to have a better look at what's going on, reading signs and store fronts. I learn new things. Like in this video you passed a sign that said largest collection of Borglum art in the world. I didn't know what Borglum art was, then I learned it was actually the name of the guy who craved Mt. Rushmore. Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. We went to Mt Rushmore about 2 years ago. It was our 2nd visit, the first being back in 1979. It sure changed dramatically in that time. So much nicer today.
Hi Greg, we are glad you liked it. If you'd like another video full of facts about the area check out this video! ruclips.net/video/dySi7tWslkA/видео.html
So clear skies, vry green ground and trees. This one of the best video of the back roads to Mt. Rushmore. I trully am impressed. good job..
Thank you! It's actually the first video we made!
New bucket list ride! This video was amazing! Thank you!
Thanks Pam!!
Great videos of these roads and tunnels in the Black Hills. It is absolutely perfect riding out there. Motorcycles are perfect because you can smell the ponderosa pines in the air, see the water and rock formations perfectly and truly experience the greatness of the hills because the bike is out in the open air. I know. Sounds too much like a cliche but watching cars travel around out there with closed windows and a/c running isn’t the best experience in my humble opinion. Going out there again sometime soon. Happy riding guys!
Hi Benjamin, Thanks for the comment! We couldn't agree more.
I’ll take my car with A/c 😂😂
@@skylermummert24 that’s what I used to think too….
Great video! we actually ran across you guys while riding with some friends while you were there. my wife an I are at the 4:17 mark.
Hi Pat, that’s awesome! We hope you had a fantastic ride through the Black Hills!
Been there, done that. It's a cool ride coming up from the South. That way as you go through the Tunnels you can see Rushmore in the background. Then I like to turn around and ride it in the other direction. Then I like to ride over to the Needles Hwy. Good riding can be found throughout the Black Hills...
Hi Ardy, Absolutely, whether forwards or backwards we never get tired of riding these roads!
Nice thank you! hope to try that one next week
Have a great ride!
I’m gonna give this video a thumbs up I just completed a 10 day Midwest ride leaving Maryland touching Chicago Iowa Minnesota Rapid City ,Sturgis I enjoy the South Dakota’s Denver the Rocky Mountains phenomenal ride iron Mountain Road needles highway everything in the video is living up to what it is can’t wait to do it again
