Hello, I do not have a tutorial for the apple. Use the same algorithms that you use for a normal 3x3. Just be sure to line up the centers while working on the cross. The last center maybe rotated 180. Use (R, U, R', U) 5 times to fix.

I've never solve 3x3 😅I got this apple as a gift, so I'm curious of how it works. This is what I got so far to solve: Hold the apple upside down. 1) start to solve the cross at the top (apple bottom) and use R'UF' if the cross piece is not aligned with the center piece; 2) solve the middle cross by placing the top on the bottom with 2R and move to the side with D' and align the middle cross with the bottom cross with R or 2R or R' and move back with D2R, do it for each cross piece if necessary 2RD'(R or 2R or R')D2R; 3) solve the corners in apple bottom (but we still hold it upside down, so they're at the top): if the corner piece is not at the top, then hold it to the front right from the center and use R'D'RD to move it to the top. After all the corners in their places check the alignment of them, if not correct repeat R'D'RD as many times as needed to align them; Now hold the apple as normal (top at the top, bottom at the bottom). 4) solve the middle corners, it's a bit complicated, but basically if the middle corner piece is at the top middle, use URU'R'U'F'UF to switch it with the middle right piece or U'L'ULUFU'F' to switch it with the left middle piece; 5) solve the top cross: if the misaligned pieces are opposite of each other, then hold them so one is in the front and the other one is in the back and use FRUR'U'F', if the misaligned pieces are near each other like г, place them so one is in the front and the other one is in the right and use FURU'R'F'. 6) and the last one is the top corners, there are two algorithms to move them: RUR'UR2UR' and R'U'RU'R'2UR It sounds complicated, but after a few solves it's actually starting to make sense. I'm sure there is probably an easier way to do it also 😅

If you want, I could try to make a tutorial video for the apple, it will also serve as a tutorial for the normal 3x3. It won't be up until 11/29 though.

When there is a center rotated 90 degrees it means that there are two pieces that are the same and have been exchanged. They are in each other's place. They seem to match from the drawings but they are not in place. If you start making a layer, those edges are always in place, so you just have to try the ones from the second and third layers that are interchangeable

Well it depends on who you are using to bowl. You have to know the style of the bowler. I would be down to help you find a perfect line. You have to keep in mind that you have so many points to focus on. Upload it send me a video I can give you some ideas.

Hey Jaybeard, I got the dollar cube in May. I also had to use an actual dollar fort reference. I started the solve like I would a normal 3x3 with a cross on the pyramid face. Then I got the centers lined up with the cross edges like a supercube/picture cube. Then I placed the corners and edges. The last layer the most difficult for me, I try to orient the edges then I try to get the corners in the correct spots. I orient the corners, then I check the edges are oriented right, and if they are, then I move on the the final step, placing the edges in the correct spot. For this step I used cuboid algorithms. Such as the adjacent and opposite edge swaps. If I have a center or two rotated 180 degrees then I use the algorithm to solve that. By the time I had received the puzzle you commented that you were able to solve it. I recorded that video a couple of weeks ago.

@@SassyMonk Yeah. I guess I kind of did the same thing as you. It's just I did notice how fast you got it all together. Yes, that adjacent and opposite swap thing has validity as I think that's what got me on track ultimately. Just an aside: I recently finished mahjong 4x4 and found some crazy parity issues. Like when I had opposite and then 2 side by side edges. My regular algorithm no longer worked as it normally did. Sometimes it solves fine and others it goes in this 'other wacky parity' territory. The only thing that works is either starting all over again, or changing the layout of the entire cube.

@@Jaybeard I get the same thing, I still have trouble with it. I got lucky when I recorded my solve of the 4x4 Mahjong. Earlier this year I found a video of @twistypuzzling explaining what to do, but they have since taking down the video. Haven't played either of these, and they may have changed since I first heard of them, might look into No Man's Sky, or Astroneer. When I first saw them, they looked like Minecraft in space.
