Do DEER eat hydrangeas? The reliable, EASY, deer-PROOF, compact BLOOMING shrub I'm planting instead.
Fall is the perfect time to rearrange the garden if you have spots that are challenging to maintain. The soil is still nice and warm while the air temperatures are mild -- this is the PERFECT time to plant/transplant.
In my case, the deer have won the battle with my panicle hydrangeas up front. When I first planted out the garden bed up front, the deer weren't brave enough to come to my yard. They've since gotten much braver now that I have planted them an all you can eat buffet -- and they have thoroughly enjoyed it. In an effort to make my garden easier to maintain; I'm going to replace the hydrangeas with something that is deer resistant, evergreen, compact and blooming.
I've grown AND ...

    Yeah you can really go at fruit trees, but over pruning can absolutely ruin a tree for years. My father overprinted our mulberry trees and yeah they grew back but it took 5 years before they got back to the size they had been and we had subpar harvest for 3 years. He also way overpruned our dragon fruit plants and 6 years later they still haven't recovered. We went from getting nearly two hundred in a year to a 2 dozen if we are lucky Even 6 years later. DO NOT OVERPRUNE. And unless you know what you are doing don't prune at all. Do research first please. There is nothing worse than ruining your own hard work by being overzealous.

    • @andrepalomaro353
      @andrepalomaro353 3 дня назад

      true but, every individual gardener/ homeowner should avoid this by being aware how fast growing their tree is if they keep track of it, especially if they grew it from sapling or seed. you can use this to gauge the appropriate amount soi its not a coin toss, also there are plenty of fantastic online guides for every species in every weather system they live in i typically live by the rule of "if its growing downward or tangled i cut it" although i'm more of a tomato guy, where you basically do the same thing but with suckers to get height

  • @fozzyozzy1030
    @fozzyozzy1030 3 дня назад

    Their is such a thing as cutting too much though. Each tree is different but as a rule of thumb you don't wanna cut off more than 50% of the tree in one go or it could stress it out.

    • @andrepalomaro353
      @andrepalomaro353 3 дня назад

      i agree with this, but specifically for fruit trees, with exceptions like loquat or pomegranate at least in my cases. figs can sometimes take up to 80% its quite amazing, got a great fig tree that gets SLAUGHTERED every year and grow back just fine. could be any atypical case though (this is partially because it is very near a wall in an extra wide in ground bed that gets special care)

The deer don’t touch loropetalum, so no stinky spraying required - they’re evergreen, compact, and bloom bright pink bloom in the spring. What’s not to love?
