Thank you for the timestamps!
It's unfortunate that Spotify bought Anchor and stripped it down. I just tried "Spotify for Podcasters," and it's a disappointment. Anchor was incredible-I was an early adopter, and its features still outshine most competitors. So, did he truly democratize audio, or did he just create a great app and then ruin it by selling it to Spotify? You can’t even record a podcast on the app anymore, which was one of Anchor's core features. It’s really disappointing. RIP.
So much alpha here. Thanks John.
investigative journalism sounds cool
Great one
If you haven't hired a head of newsletter OP, I volunteer
Great video. If I have 5k, what can I buy?
Girdley seems unhappy today :)
It’d be much more fun to listen to if every other word was not “like”
Little advice from a schooled jourbalist working woth nedie since 1994 bit digital since 2005. Cut the beginning completely away and instead introduce your mission yourself in less than ten sec after you mention this episode is about. Copy diary of ceo or MFM their starts are clear and great. Also know exactly about people (do your research so the questions go deeper - not fact check) Also i want to leave a bit further in - I think its because I am not sure what I am invested in - like WHAT are we going through. I think the idea you have is cool - wish you luck
nice nice nice
Lots of value here. I agree that the jump between media could be quite challenging but I don't think it is easier to jump between audiences on same media. In my own experience, I started these one after the other for the same audience - Blog - Newsletter -Podcast The audience remained similar: Doctors keen to make smarter financial decisions. TDLR has nailed newsletters and understand their audience deeply but I wonder if they may test the podcast model through a few options or try them all -Run a survey within their audience to test if they 1)Listen to podcasts 2) Want a podcast in that niche 2) Launch a podcast - see it as a 6 months project and see how it goes. Use email list to promote podcast through mentions 3) Partner with creators or a podcast company, invite audience members to feature on podcast just to talk about their work Worth considering. Happy to flesh these out more
This is gold!
Matt is right, you are at risk to become a jack of all trades...
primero
Awesome episode. First one I’ve watched. Really interested in newsletters.
media nerds unite !
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing
Great episode!
WE ARE BACK!
Solid conversation. Not surprised that the early employees of Morning Brew have become a mafia of their own. The Creator Economy is just getting started 💪
Awesome interview. Love from Bangalore, India.
I FREAKING LOVE THIS WOMAN!!! 🤦.. Soooo damn knowledgeable on all things online. She IS the modern day internet Sage. I purchased her incredibly dense first course on content. Really would love her latest internet pipes course, however financially we can’t afford it yet. (New born baby) Still within 2 years of our blog and we’re finally profitable. $900 bucks per month w/20 hours focused work per week)Stephs first course was my “e-bible”..💪🏽Anywho, my comment is 7 months late, yet our Steph admiration continues. Peace and Blessing from East Baltimore.❤🙏🏽
💯
Haha listened the full length Nas. If you made till the end, you're a real one

Great show. How come so few people watch this? It's because podcast people use other platforms?

Is that Erik Torenberg? Great interview homie. So many great stories. Interesting thoughts about network effects and network quality at 17:00. One thread that I really like that runs through this interview about the give and take of being a creator vs building something that scales / lasts.
Love media empires and all of Turpentine content. So much amazing content packed with incites. Keep up the good work.
