This is honestly something I wish more people acknowledged. The way that you utilize something has a huge consequence on how it affects you in your life. Gaming with friends is probably fine. Like most things using a hobby as a social setting is positive. However most people just use video games to cope with their real life and fall in a rabbit hole of addiction. This is especially harmful when those indivisuals, who use video games as a coping mechanism, go out in the real world and lack social skills or struggle with their attention span. Video games have most of the same negative consequences that social media addiction has. I think this was part of the larger thesis of this video which I strongly appreciated. Please do more of these style videos.

Biggest issue here is competitive multiplayer games especially shit like league of legends. Your brain actually turns to mush. Spending money on microtransactions in lol or cod and grinding for a pixel rank for hours a day causes so much emotional stress or emotional void. It’s crazy a game I spent most of my gaming time was fucking league of legends. A game made to be toxic and addicting. It’s weird how I would cling onto it and treated it like an important thing but after half a year of a break when I look at the game I don’t even get a rush like an addict would. The game looks boring as fuck and I can’t believe somebody plays it to this day. Sit by your games for shorter times, play indie games, play short games, play stuff that has meaning. Treat gaming like it’s supposed to be consumed and stop brainwashing yourself to megacorp dogshit like cod

My gym journey has been quite the ride. Started in 2009, trained a lot and enjoyed it a lot untill 2012. Around 2012 I started develloping some bodydysmorphia and my joy in the gym got replaced with stress and never being content with myself. This lasted till around 2014. I had to quit the gym because it really became far too overpowering, I was doing nothing else but gym gym gym, eating, prepping, tired from heavy workouts, little social life, stress and discontent about my physique. Quit for 4 years, had to put more time in my studies, focussing more on also other things in life but became unhealthy, skinny fat, lots of gaming, going out with bad friends, drinking more. Got back in the gym 2018 and had a far better mentallity. No longer bodydysmorphia, more happy. Made some progress untill 2020 where with covid all gyms closed and I purchased a full homegym. Got again some problems with being obsessed with the sport. Got a non gym related injury that forced me to quit for a while in 2021. Got back in 2022, suffered a serious injury in the gym after only 4 weeks of training. Only saw a 'gym' for 2 years doing some rehab work at a PT. Currently back in the gym since a month, but now the focus is only on getting my injury back to 100%. Might even need surgery anyway. Thanks for coming to my ted talk lol

For me it's just something I can do every day that is a rock in my routine. If I go to the gym, I'm doing something good that day. It leads to more good things. It helps me break out of bad mental states. It helps me feel strong and accomplished on a daily basis. If you are torturing yourself with unrealistic expectations then you are doing it wrong. Just try and be better day by day, week by week. Even if you are the same this year as you were last year, you are still WAY stronger than you would be if you didn't lift at all.

When I started I 'invested' 1500EURO in a course for e-commerce, but comparing the way I do it now, is completely different compared to how I learnt it through this 'course'. The only thing positive one of these courses has given me is accountability. I was thinking I cant stop after already having spent so much money.
