REO Speedwagon New World Music Theatre 1995
I found this concert on a VHS tape I acquired back in the late 1990's. The tape had audio issues with the HiFi track alignments. I had to play the tape in
two separate VHS machines, one to capture the video and the other to capture the audio. I was able to adjust the video heads in the second VHS
machine to get the HiFi audio tracks to align. This is the best recovery I could get.

Recovered stereo version of this Soundstage concert Had to recover the the 39 year old tape in the same way as the Gordon Lightfoot concert. "Minute by Minute" is removed from the concert due to some Eagle Rock blockage which would stop anyone in the US from watching the concert. Not sure what that's all about.

I recorded this concert off air on a Umatic video recorder in 1979. Back then stereo TV did not exist so WTTW sent the stereo audio to a local FM station. In this case, it was WXRT in Chicago. Umatic video recorders were designed with 2 audio channels so I captured the stereo audio from the FM station. Since the tape cassette is 37 years old, I had to bake the tape for 24 hours just to get it t...
Thanks for posting this. Great concert when he was in his prime. Clapping ruined the first song. Not sure why people think we want to here clapping instead of the song
Fantastic right around the time I saw them
This was on a package tour they did with Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, and Orleans so footage of their performances would be great to see. Love this REO one!
🎉❤😂🎉😂❤😊
Thank you for sharing!!😂🎉😂🎉great audio. Love this Great Rock n Roll Band!!❤❤❤😅😊😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a product of the Chicago area, miss those WTTW Sound Stage & Center Stage days & XRT teaming up to do the simulcast. Could always count some great musicians in the small studio setting,
I LOVE seeing old REO concerts being posted, my all time favorite band
Totally amazing composer and singer.
And an accomplished whistler, too (Ghosts of Cape Horn) 😊
Everyone comments on how hard it is for a drummer to play and sing, I'm sure it's no picknic on keyboards!
Thank goodness KC cut his hair shortly after this:)
His hair is beautiful 😍
One of my favorite 70s bands , the long hair vocal and McDonald in the keyboard amazing
Was this the tour where they played small venues and i think John Cafferty opened up?
Great show!!! Time machine! ✌️
RIP Gordon

Alpine Valley. . . . where? Anyone know? I know I saw the Doobies around this time frame, and there was an Alpine Valley, Michigan that was a very popular, amphitheater venue.
Thanks for all the good work.
I directed this Soundstage program at WTTW-TV Chicago Public Television
An amazing song
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 👍🙏😎
Thank you for the effort to restore the tape and post it.
Thank you for rescuing this in such an amazing way. I have been a Lightfoot fan since 1970, so was so sad at his passing. Recordings like this keep him alive even more than his records. There is so much more to Lightfoot's songs than just the obvious tune ... the subtleties make the songs, and in such an intimate venue you can hear and see them.
The program manager should have worked the timing of this concert better. To cut off Canadian Railroad Trilogy before it ended was sacrilege in my book. That’s Gord’s Gold for sure. One of his best imho. Chords and lyrics married in blissful perfection. TY GL. RIP.
This is fantastic! I've loved his music for over 50 years. *Can you post the track list and timings?*
Thank, Thank, Thank You.... For jumping through hoops to recover this amazing concert of The Great Man. It is Gordon Lightfoot in his absolute prime. His unique baritone voice is like butter.👏👏👏👏👏👏
I agree. Reading his bio, this was during his drinking period and being overweight. Neither hurt his voice!
I really liked The Ghosts of Cape Horn. Gawd, I hate that phase shifter sound on the guitar.
You grew up in the Great Lakes I still love ya even though you hate me
I was fortunate enough to see Gordon Lightfoot twice in the late 70s, and I have never heard a live performance played with such perfection. Gordon surrounded himself with the best group of musicians I've ever heard, and I remember this more than 40 years later.
His music resurfaced for me in the Brown Bunny Soundtrack . One side Gordons work and the other John Frusciante's. It immediately reminded me of my childhood and being driven around in those huge station wagons w/ Gordon on the radio and the sun shining thru our hair.
For chrissakes given Gordy some volume on the mic sound guys 🙄
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him sing “Old Dan’s Records” before this.
An intrepid effort to bring about this vessel from the depths of time. Kudos to you!
Rest in Peace Gordon Lightfoot. Thanks for Your music.
Does anyone know what venue this performance was held in Chicago?
