@trilobright Thank you so much. :D I did try and have some story elements throughout like with Jadzia, Zial, The Jem'Hadar, etc but its hard to do when you've got so many ep's and only 4 minutes. And yeah, I just heard it and instantly thought "Deep Space Nine". :)

@nickharvey7 That is a very good point, but it isn't a "when" with accidents like this, it's an "if". The majority of plants are 100% safe thanks to their safeguards. Fukushima is an isolated incident caused by earthquakes well above any expected magnitudes for that region, and if we learn anything from it, it is how we can make our plants even safer.

@FiveMinsToMidnight You say that no one will get cancer unless the shield is breached. But when there is an accident and the shields are breached it is not just one person that can get cancer and mostly children are affected. The investment needed for nuclear power must be greater because of the long term nuclear waste.

@nickharvey7 Sadly it isn't as simple as that. We cannot just harness energy from the Earth's rotation for example, and even if we put shifted all of our investment from fossil fuels and nuclear power to greener power, it just wouldn't suffice. The technology just isn't advanced enough and things like wind isn't reliable. Like I said, radiation does not escape nuclear plants 'cause it's absorbed by the casing. Unless the shield is breached, no one will get cancer from it.

@FiveMinsToMidnight We live in a Universe that is in continuous motion so we do not need to get all our energy from tidal power but it would work well for Japan. The plants get most of their energy from the Sun so we could copy them! If nuclear power causes just one child cancer can it be justified?

@nickharvey7 Tidal power is a very safe, green unlimited power source, but it is impossible to harness sufficient energy for our entire civilisation solely from that. We would at least need to convert every piece of coastline into a reactor for that to be a viable option. And this is true, but not all radiation is to be feared. Two out of the three types of ionising radiation (the harmful stuff) is absorbed by a foot or two of air, or a thin piece of material.

In a Universe where everything is in continuous motion it should be possible to create as much energy as we like! We have tidal power formed by the gravitation pull of the Moon this alone could create most of our energy. There should be no need for nuclear power! Some of the radioactivity has a very short half-life but what people never seem to say is that the activity will never reach zero. So it will never totally go away!

@myheadissore Indeed you do. I think I will, why not. The dailyvlog died on it's arse after 5 videos, so I may just start doing weekly things on here. Who knows...
