bitter choco decoration mizuki first of all, my opinions have changed since i wrote this comment. i think bitter choco decoration can fit both mafuyu in mizuki in different ways, but if you had read the story it should be pretty obvious that this song makes sense for them. 1. "i do my best not to trust people too much." mizuki, being judged by throughout their entire life, cannot tell anyone their secret, even n25, who they love, because they're scared and can't risk the way that they might be left behind if n25 knows about them. they have serious trust issues. 2. "not to love anyone" they have said in hermit story that they told themself not to get too attached or care for and love nightcord too much. but here they are, n25 saved them and it's one of the most important things in their life now. 3. "not to cause any conflicts" they are always shown breaking up fights, because they're actually mature behind that carefree facade. especially fights between ena and mafuyu, they often try to get them both to calm down (mostly ena) 4. "not to stand out" they really were always the outcast, standing out due to the way they dressed at school. they just wanted people to accept them and treat them like a normal human being, but they can't have that. 5. "not to hurt anyone, not to bully anyone." they mentioned being afraid of hurting ena because they couldn't tell her their secret, feeling bad that they're making her worry since she feels like mizuki can't trust her. they were bullied in middle school so they are very accepting of others and don't want to do to others what was did to them. 6. "not be arrogant." especially in main story, they say to mafuyu that they understand her but only she truly knows what she's going through. this shows their nature of being mature and understanding that everyone has their own struggles. 7. "i also don't forget to throw in a light joke and some smooth talk here and there" they clearly tease ena a lot, seeming childish and funny, but they are also shown, in hermit after being confronted by ena, that they get awkward and start playing it off with jokes, saying they're fine when asked if they're ok, or about their secret. even if they're struggling, they will not tell anyone. when they left nightcord call in that event, they smiled, left, and then the light in their eyes disappeared. they are without a doubt, a phony. 8. "smile and please everybody!" they always try to cheer n25 up, helping others even though they have a secret that keeps them distant. 9. "at times that lonely love would taint you." loving something, n25, causes them to be scared and still feel lonely because they might be left behind if their secret is found out. 10. "when the birds leave, all that's left is a shit piece of art." mizuki tries to enjoy life with nightcord as long as they can, but they think that it can't last forever with them not being able to tell their secret. basically, it's useless if everything they love leaves. 11. "i had such grand ideas at the beginning--" they were so glad to be with n25 at the beginning, joking around, but now they're too attached to escape, and one day everything will end for them. it fits them, discussion closed.
