Born in Cameroon and given the local name ‘Mnkongmoteh’, Moteh Parrott is a Scottish alternative-indie artist whose music has been likened to “a Highland wilderness with all the sweeping colour and spirit which that encompasses” (leedsmusicscene.net). His music compliments reflective, uplifting lyrics with open-tuned electric guitar and cello.
Shortlisted for BBC Radio Scotland’s Singer-Songwriter of the Year Award 2019, Moteh is building up to the release of his 2024 debut album, which was recorded at Chem19 studios with Paul Savage, producer of Mogwai, Arab strap and King Creosote, among other renowned Scottish artists.

Hey! Thanks for commenting :) yeah I was sad Red Kites ended too. Unfortunately we ended up living at different ends of the country (I’m in Edinburgh, and the rest of the guys are down south) so it couldn’t continue. We found the “business” side of things took over a bit, and it took the enjoyment out of just making music together. In the end I think we were all just a bit jaded by it and ready for a change. But yeah, I’m still gutted the band ended, as it felt like magic when we played together! Covid and various other life stuff has held it up, but I have a finished album which I’m gearing up to release with my solo project (and the brilliant band who play with me) so watch this space. Should be starting to release stuff next year!
