I loved the relationship between Ginger and her mom! 😢 She was such a core character in the series and I think alot of us could relate to their relationship with our own mothers.

I liked AGUp for what it was, but I do know ATBG was definitely a gem for its time because of how deep and drama-driven it felt like it was, while AGUp was a bit generic and relying on just portraying the characters as standard teens with stereotypical teen issues but without the introspectiveness that The Rugrats had about parenting, childhood, and being a baby. Thats not to say AGUp never had any depth, because it did with Angelica who ended up getting a lot of deconstruction in the show, Kimmy having an identity crisis, Letting go of Reptar, Phil and Lil coming to terms that they are drifting a part with puberty changing them more distinctly and their social circle, thogh I don't remember if Tommy or Chuckie had much of anything similar. But AGUp was more focused on just humor, over what it could have done as a dramedy. ATBG just had so much weight to it, more ongoingly, like those 90s live action darker teen dramas.

I think all grown up could have been good but the people who made it probably just think it as a play chck but had that to make it but did not care that much for the actual show

This is a bad faith argument since ATBG and AGU were two completely different types of cartoons that just happened to feature preteen characters. AGU was meant to be more light-hearted, and much like the show that preceded it, was never meant to tackle serious issues in an in-depth manner whereas ATBG was more or less an animated preteen drama. I don't think many people who watched AGU were expecting it to explore more serious issues and that's fine, it didn't and shouldn't have to.

I preferred Ginger to All Grown Up. It’s a very well written, well developed and very reliable

I LOVED this show so much, i rewatched it recently…. And honestly it was very well written for an animated show. Simply loved that show sooooo much

The point of Dairens looks was that before he was the nerd with head gear that was a good person bc he had to be to be liked but it gets flipped when he start getting popular and looking more attractive, it’s harder to be a good person when superficial stuff gets in the way and that was part of his arc. Could he be a good person with the superficial things like he was before.

The irony of Mr. sweeny being “evil” is just that he genuinely believes his students are bright and it infuriates him that they choose not to do the work. I mean yeah middle school but it’s funny because he genuinely is excited about his subject and to teach.

I always hated Dodie. I always wondered why Ginger would be friends with her. As an adult I realized it was because a lot of us had that friend. A friend that would throw anyone under the bus to make themselves look better even for a second (sometimes they didn't even think of you as a friend, but pretended so they were not alone) and gaslighting you whenever you start to think about it. As kids we think our friends are our friends no matter what, as adults sometimes you look back and realize you had a Dodie in your life without realizing it. I personally do not like how as adults Ginger is still friends with her. Really, I think it would be once they were out of school they realized they were only friends because they were in school (a place that forces people your age together). Ginger wouldn't want a toxic person like that as an adult ruining her life. I could totally picture Dodie running around doing any interview she could saying whatever embarrassing story she could think of so she could have 5 minutes of fame and gaslighting Ginger into thinking it was ok. Courtney is a friend I picture she would have as an adult. Maybe once they were done with school they would find each other again and become friends. Sometimes once the pressure of school is done you realize someone you kept away could have been an amazing friend. Courtney deserved a lot better and she was Ginger's true friend. Sad that her fake friend is still her friend and we see nothing of the one that really cared for her.

I watched both as a kid. Idk I somehow liked the sorta dry more drama esque cartoon of well. Life. Nearly as much as any other 😂
