This is the group, Mana Haka. A professional dance group. This is a very specific cultural dance. Great performance. You just have to be there to feel it. Fantastic experience, the drums are hypnotizing, so is the women's voices and haka itself. Hard to do it justice with no professional recording equipment, we did the best we could. This is a long video as I found that more respectful. The "Bi...

I left the sound as it is. There is wind in the microphone, that said, you also hear wind in your ears if you sail. At least you can hear the water and waves as they are. Thank you for your comment. We planned for a long time before we set sail. Just try some sailing for yourself through a sailing school to see if you like it and learn some basics. The basics are easily learned and you build up your experience from there. In the mean time we will post some more videos of our sailing

      Thank you for the positive feedback. We are still finding our way to document it like it really is and keep it just sailing, sailing, sailing the oceans. This week we are preparing Snow for the Pacific crossing from Panama to the Marquesses. We depart this week, 4000 miles, around 30 days of sailing. If you like you can follow us live on our website: www.sailingsnow.net and then tracking snow or the direct link: forecast.predictwind.com/tracking/display/Snow We will post regular little blog entries via satellite phone of our experience during our trip. We will make new material for a next video and hope to be more sensitive with the wind noise, we have some ideas.

    Wow - this was a great sail....the water off the back of the boat is so clean too, now sloshing around like some of the fat-bottom boats we see....sure might be a hair slower, but I saw a surf at 10+ knots...that's truly moving! Congrats on the passage. Also, I love the 'old boat' content on the S+S Swan 431, as I too have a dream to own and sail a swan down in the Caribbean, so it's fantastic to see your content!

    • @sailingsnow
      @sailingsnow 2 года назад

      Thank you Ian. We hope you can realize your dream and sail a S&S Swan too. We dreamed for year about a S&S Swan, the 48 a 43 and decided the S&S Swan 431 would be our best option as a cruising boat for us two. She sails great in any direction and is such a joy to sail, you can feel she want to go. She has indeed a small stern. We think this helps with waves go under her and not getting grip on the stern to push the stern aside. The more we learn about this ship, the more we are in awe about the S&S design and a philosophy about seaworthiness. But no surprise actually as in 1976 they had already over 50 years of design experience. Combine that with Nautor Swan building quality .....But we are biased, there are also many other great yachts. Keep building your dream.

      @@sailingsnow I think it's great testimony that the more it blew, the more the boat ran faster without flexing or straining at the higher speeds, clearly it was meant to just sail at those speeds! - would love an interior audio clip of when you were sailing those big seas and wind - what did it sound like down below? Any Creaking? silent? just wondering you know!

    • @sailingsnow
      @sailingsnow 2 года назад

      Hi Ian, sorry for the late reply. In think you are correct. I put up a page on our site about her performance so you can see it yourself. sailingsnow.net/performance-431-3-ocr-club-certificate-2020-test-certificate/ She sail great we just went running in reasonable high waves doing 7-8-9 hitting 10 and occasionally 11 surfing from a wave. She is build primary as a racer with pure flush deck. There is only one build like that the rest of the orders where for racer cruiser. But you can feel she is in her element between 7-9 knot. Great boat, best S&S Swan liveaboard for two in our opinion. She is wide and has a large saloon with just enough windows. Not to much so the sun gets in all the time but enough to have a light saloon. Her hull under water design is a little bit more modern than the S&S Swans before her. I think this helps sailing with the wind behind her. I can only recommend a 431. You get used to the bridge deck and will love it. So much extra space inside, no cockpit table needed and of course absolute safety when you get waves from behind in the cockpit.

    • @sailingsnow
      @sailingsnow 5 лет назад

      Hello sailing A B Sea. The problem with the furler was, we bend a shackle on top because we had a dynema line twisted around the shackle and put force on it with a winch. We did some damage to the furler and had to replace a top cap on the top of the furler. Also had to saw off a little of the furler to put the new top cap on. All done now and the sail is good again.
