I'll bet 85% of the "complexity" that slows construction is imposed by governments pandering to various crony interests, e.g., environmental, unions, zoning/permitting, lawyers, social justice, etc. You'd think with modern project management systems, we'd be doing better than the team in 1930 using paper, pencils, stenographers and type writers.

As anyone working in construction likely knows: even granite and diamond can be broken. The human mind is no different. If you apply enough force to a bone, it will break. The skin is exceptionally weak to puncturing and scratches. The human mind is similar. If you push it beyond its limit, be it from prolonged stress, long workdays, insufficient time off, combinations thereof or other reasons... something's got to give.

Answer to this is too much red tape nowadays, to many workers doing nothing but “supervising” and a lot of other things that slow everything down during construction.

Is there a cost change in or cost analyses on renovation for single family residences? My rental is awesome but energy inefficient. Many people will never own their home but rent all their lives. What about paying forward for climate attuned buildings to live in which is far more comfortable.

Did you ask how many people’s human rights were trampled in the process? Or would that have spoiled the mood? “Oh baby, it’s so big and expensive!” Skyscrapers surrounded by sand and a lack of human rights and these people are all accomplices in the atrocities committed to bring their projects to fruition. You have blood on your hands.

Personally I love the sky walks. Unfortunately there’s only one left in NY and a couple in Boston.
