Australian motorcycle production racing. In 1982, the Yamaha 750 race was the longest distance production race in Australia. The cream of Australian production racing talent took to the Oran Park circuit with the team of Rod Cox and Neil Chivas on the JCW Katana taking out the race.

Haha, stock standard. I know of at least one bike that had it's swingarm filled with spray foam to stiffen it up and another Ducati ( different year ) that was told not to pass the 4 cylinder bikes down the straight😂😂

Still got my 750 Katana after all these years with grind marks on both side engine cases from this track
Ah yes.....many a Suzuki in the late 70s and early 80s were sold as 'just run in' after flogging them around a circuit for 6 plus hours!!

Fantastic race from great riders , but it seemed a more interesting race at Amaroo Park.
Wow what a blast from the past. I was at this race and was doing flags at the end of the main straight. Just joined Sandy club to get my race licence and had bought an LC350 to race and decided to get a track side view to get an idea of what was going on and volunteered for flags at the 2 hr. See myself at 5:20 at the start of the race in the video bottom of screen with orange jacket on the right of the other guy with orange jacket and white top.. Then later at the finish as 46:11 I'm standing up at the bottom of the screen with the orange jacket on just near the number 1 sign with my girl friend sitting on the ground next to me. 2 hours standing it was a long day out there. Thank you for posting it.

He was a real down to earth guy and very friendly. I recall one time at Winton in 85 I was on a Katana 1000 superbike and just came back in the pits after a race and Wally was walking past after watching the race and said to me "Great ride mate" and I was only a C grader then. That was a high point in my time racing I never forgot.
