❤❤❤ Il était très bien conservé à 85 ans.Il est de mes pianistes préférés.
😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wonderful !!
1:00 m wonderful Cadenza !!! My God ! His fingers !!
I think here the conductor is Peter Raabe. Concerto recorded on 1 February 1936
My source says Rosbaud on May 1935 (rene gagnaux website)
@pianomasters3752 yes, I know Rene, but if you look inside Arrau web site, you will find out that during 1935 Arrau recorded along with Rosbaud these 3 works: Chopin Second Piano Concerto, Liszt First Concerto (the only one published) and Busoni Spanish Rhapsody. In the following year, in the date a gave you, with the same orchestra and place of recording, Arrau recorded the Liszt Second Concerto under Peter Raabe. I listened both version, and they have only two seconds of difference. Morover, in a specific point there is the same mistake made bay the pianist.
@@skyrim7750 Corrected, thanks !
thank you for this precious document
Much love from Brazil. Tagliaferro will always be an enormous pride for us, along with Nelson Freire, Arthur Moreira Lima, Antonio Guedes Barbosa, Ernesto Nazareth, and many others.
What a remarkable piece of footage! A young Arrau plays with fabulous abandon and mastery.
Always moving to hear him play himself. French : Toujours émouvant de l'entendre jouer lui-même.
If Cherkassky played nothing else, he would be remembered by what he did with this miniature
Always craved a video of her playing, very clear jeu perlé, love it!
❤💚💛💙
Why did he skip the echoing melody part?
Genius
My favorite pianist, my favorite Brahms piano concerto. A relaxed and generous performance, and the orchestra is also excellent. Thank you very much.
The Best Brahms concerto no 2 players are Really=Sviatoslav Richter with The Paris Orchestra from 1969 Richter the most monumental and Best structure for music better than Arrau! Edwin Fischer from 1942 Fischer the big Genius better than Arrau! Grigory Sokolov his Brahms no 2 with Finnish Radio Symphony video from 1987 had the Best piano sound better than Arrau! Sokolov his rhythmic vitalness is unbeatable! Sokolov the most Titanic Brahms no 2! Funny to say Arrau is relax!? Arrau play stiff Brahms concerto no 1! Radu Lupu with the Finnish Radio Symphony video from 1996 had the most colorful piano sound! Radu Lupu More relax than Arrau!!
@RaineriHakkarainen Thank you for your reply. I don't usually use English, so please forgive me if some of my expressions are incorrect. "relax" may be a misleading word. I think the musical term"grandioso" would be appropriate. My impressions are based on a short clipping. I think the Richter recording you mentioned is good. For me, both the conductor and the orchestra are important. For example, among conductors, I like Raphael Kubelik, Carlos Kleiber. As for orchestras, I like the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. I don't particularly like the sound of the Berlin Philharmonic, and I think it varies quite a bit from concert to concert. My favorite recording of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 is: Eugen Jochum /Emil Gilels/ Berliner Philharmoniker Recorded in 1972 by Deutsche Grammophon It's good that everyone has their own tastes. I also like Iiro Rantala.;)
Gran maestro chileno... Gracias por dejarnos tu música y disciplina..... Desde Chillán bellos paisajes de CHILE cuando aún éramos felices 💙🪻🇨🇱🌲
My god, its so clean 😨. This is horowitz at his best, being a musical genius while not missing a note.
Th audio unfortunately is from 10 years after the 20's recording.
Wow! La perfection!
Sofronitsky is god
Wunderbar!!
the most difficult part of the piece is actually the part left hand has to play 5 notes against 3 notes on the right hand. and Arrau is the only pianist I heard so far who clearly articulates the left hand five notes without twisting the right hand note values or muffling the left hand to avoid the fuss of sticking to the score, that's how amazing this old recording is.
I find the section with the arpeggios to be the most diffcult. Because there’s SUCH a demand for accuracy and control over your right hand at a high speed compared to the 3 over 5 section. It’s one of the hardest parts of the piece for sure, but I find it easy nowadays. The Molto Rubato marking allows for a lot of ‘figuring it out’ and plenty of freedom.
Realmente una maravillosa escena del maestro Arrau, interpretando al gran Liszt. Gracias por compartirlo.
Amazing to finally see Hofmann at a time when he was in full possession of pianistic abilities
Nice to see another person's best of list of the complete Chopin nocturnes! Some great choices here. Here is my own list if you are interested ... ruclips.net/p/PL_FxhjClAeZeYhkVsSHouZ5JC9pyp6Z4_
Wonderful!

@@pianomasters3752 Ah, okay, sorry. My mistake.

First time hearing this Franck piece, so glad to know it now. Mil gracias.
❤Thank you very much because despite the crackles of the 1934 recording, it is a pleasure to hear the wonderful A. Cortot in this magnificent work that is too rarely performed nowadays Merci beaucoup car malgré les craquements de l'enregistrement de 1934 qu'el bonheur d'entendre le merveilleux A. Cortot dans cette oeuvre magnifique et trop rarement interprétée de nos jours
A genius. A perfectionist. A very very great artist. Watching him play while he’s dragging on a cigarette like a jazz man is funny.
He was a brilliant pianist-- but this was not his finest hour.
❤Thank you
@@1947laurence you're welcome 😁
So expressive!🎉😮❤😊
Another brilliant performance by Cortot
His playing reminds me of Richter they are both among the best of the mid 20th century pianists both from Russia both create music in their highest form.
The interpretation is so light and really captures the mood of the composition! ❤
Tried to follow along with some of Scriabin’s recordings once (on a piano) and his rubato almost gave me a stroke
Chopin was known to never play the same piece twice! After all, Scriabin did compose the piece so he has all rights to “artistic flexibility”
This is because you were born not in the 19th century. Different mentality. It's not just Scriabin's idiosyncrasies but the environment he and others grew in.
Very interesting...
An awesome performance; thank you!
@@EElgar1857 you're welcome ! 😁
No artifice , just a conduit for Chopin`s creative genius.
I love this piece...I listen to it every day...
Thank you for making available this and so many treasures....so thankful. He is unique in transporting one to most beautiful poetic spaces ❤❤❤
Go Bach! Awesome tune! 🎶🎵

Arrau is my favorite pianist. I don't think I've heard his Rachmaninof yet. Thank you for the edit.
사랑해요
I had the pleasure of meeting L.B. at a record signing in California in 1978. I gushed my admiration for him for almost two minutes before I realized he didn't speak English! Nevertheless, we did manage to communicate coherently, and he was so nice and gracious. He was phenomenal in concert! An eternal BRAVO!!👏😁💯🎶🎹
