Beauty, I had one when I was 18. I remember 3 things about it. 1. I could never get it to tick over correctly and it had no indicators so a slow right turn was eventful. 2. I sold it for £1200 3. It made me a biker for life and I am 59 now.
I used to own one of those on a UK 'W' plate, it had the gear shift linkage to the left hand side that went around the back of the motor. The linkage bar was held to the rear motor with saddle clips, although it was a bit of a bodge up the gears selected just fine. Laverda triples are great motorcycles to own and ride, they have an air of presence on the road and when the motor is in full song at motorway speeds the sound they produce is music to the ears.
Always hard to pinpoint root cause but exhaust valves are very white suggesting lean running. Valve head falling off could have caused it, as could conrod breaking.
Hey, Blue, si vuelves a grabar otro video de esa preciosa Laverda, deja que veamos bien todos los detalles, también tenemos derecho a disfrutar de las obras de arte. Forza Laverda!!
@@981Blue That's so true, riders are pampered today, with fuel gauges, engine diagnostic computer, ABS, EFI, etc. It takes the fun out of riding, let's get back to basics. Mind you, my the clutch and throttle were heavy to operate on my 1200, they gave me forearms like Popeye the sailor man.
981Blue Really? Maybe I should think about buying another.....sold mine in 2002 after 15 years of ownership. A very late 180° with hydraulic clutch as standard, left foot change, alternator on the primary side etc. Fitted with non standard clip ons, single racing seat and very loud, big bore collector, racing pipe. A real beast.....but a standard spec would do very nicely......
crank and crankcases replaced. Head and cylinder saved.
Was that recoverable or scrap?
Be nice to here it start and run
Beautifull machine

Preciosa
I had one for 11 years, massive fun and deafening, should never have sold it, but I did for £1500. To put towards an RGS.

A big wow from me...
Thanks, was a few years ago now. I have around a dozen such Laverda restorations I put on RUclips.
I like it. A lot.
Brutal elegance.
The old TT Motors dealership in Berkeley used to have one displayed in the shop window. It was a most beautiful machine.

bei ricordi, identica alla mia.....
beautiful atlas
Preciosas las ruedas con frenos de tambor.
Eso promete ser una perfecta restauración solo comprensible cuando se ama la perfección y la mecánica.
Ugly doesn't come close.....Very sad to see.
Yes, but it will be resolved. I have no idea of the history of the bike before it came to me in this condition.
Any idea as to cause?
Always hard to pinpoint root cause but exhaust valves are very white suggesting lean running. Valve head falling off could have caused it, as could conrod breaking.
First ones were green or red, then in 77 they were silver, in 78 they were gold and from then on they were orange/silver
Mine is dark blue.

Magnífica restauración.
¡Muy muchas gracias!
The original muscle bike, in the early 1980's I owned a 1200 Mirage.
Still got a lot of charm today in a world of plastic fantastic :-)

Meraviglia!!!

Thanks, one of my favourite Laverdas.

Thanks, got 12 more in the pipeline.

Ah, a series 2 Jota. I did one of them too. ruclips.net/video/wgXbnrBrbdo/видео.html
981BlueChecked the mk2 out, thanks. These are beautiful....the standard of your work is outstanding.
I have 2 more series 2 Jotas ready, one restored, one not restored.
Me parece que quedaría mejor el colín original de F500
a work of art . your very lucky . miss mine so much
Thanks. I have another 10 or so under construction at the moment too.
Looks sweet! And the neutral light works, quite a novelty when watching Jota vids it's astonishing how many don't.
Thanks. When they are built right they work right.
...and talking of building right, I am heartened to see you have added a hydraulic clutch, which makes perfect sense.
All series 2 180s had hydraulic clutches. Prequel to 120 Jota and RGS models
Now that really is something I never realised,. Thank you sir.
Hey, Blue. Where can I find you in real Life? Cheers, Michael
Fantastic job!
Thanks, long gone now.
Great bike.
Bici !? "Te caghi addosso" se ci monti sopra.
Sharp looking bike. Great sound! But then, I'm biased. Mine's a '72 SF.
Great looking piece of art, love the paint real classy.
+Steve Cussell Thanks. It was a fun build, bot of a change from standard ones.
Thanks, I have a few more Laverda restorations on You tube. It's an affliction!
