How I Faced Life Challenges With These 4 Games 🎮
In my last video, I shared that speech therapists play games regularly during sessions to assess, treat, and for progress monitoring. Maybe at first, it doesn't look like much learning is going on but kids thrive in multimodal experiences like games. In this video, I share how 4 specific games taught and helped me. There are so many other games that I love and wanted to share but that'd be 9234234 years long.
For those curious, here are the games I've played that are similar to the ones I mentioned in the video (if you'd like to check them out):

You really don't need a part two. Just watch the family's videos, and you will see that Frankie's abilities are far beyond her chronological age. So are her sister Stevie's
I love them. Smart kids, cuties, polite… the list is endless 😊
Frankie amd Stevie it’s my happy place . They bring me a smile always
Been watching these 2 little Angels for over a year. They are both amazing little girls. The mother and father are super great parents who just teach and nurture them so well. Just a warm and loving environment. Great family. Those 2 girls are smart as hell Just love them. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 FYI the man and woman at the beginning of the video are their grandparents.
Hello, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing ever inyour whole entire life. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. John 1:12 says:"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?
I was in speech for 4 years. I talk better now. I loved speech therapy. I hated my mom make fun of me. My speech therapist made it like games.
me as a psychologist didn't expect league in there, but hearing you say this makes a lot of sense!
ahaha I know it's a bit unexpected 😅

Hi! May i email yoi? I am seriously considering a career change to be a SLP. Im specifically interested in language aquisition and ASL. I would ideally like to work in schools. However. How is the paperwork >.<
Of course~ you can email me with your questions ☺️
Thanks so much for this video! I'm a couple months into my CF and working in public schools through a private practice, but already I'm beginning to feel burnt out and have begun questioning whether or not the school setting (really the workload and demand) is right for me. I'm also working excessive hours outside of my actual working hours to complete documentation and paperwork, with pay that I believe doesn't reflect the work I put in. Part of it has to do with me still getting into the flow of things, but the other part is the caseload. To hear that your district caps you at 8 sessions per day/40 sessions per week max is something I can't even fathom, LOL. I'm nearing 80 sessions per week. At this moment, I'm looking into figuring out where I might want to go next. Scary 😬

We LOVE Franki
Great video! :)
The environmental manipulation thing is cool!
Rightt? such a hack 😂
Really inspiring!! Thank you for sharing this❤
Hi Heather! 100% agree and loved this video! Learning often is a temporary loss of security, and learning through play makes everything more approachable while building confidence. The parents probably don't understand how much of your effort goes into planning these "games" to meet each child's interests and needs despite all the challenges you face. The socio-emotional growth that comes from play is so impactful, but it requires immense creativity and patience; it's far from easy! I find that only those who truly love and appreciate children invest the time to play with them. Looking forward to your video on the different games you use!
I appreciate you and your insight 🥹 Thank you for being here ♥️
Thank you for sharing your back-to-school essentials with us! It’s so lovely to see you Heather! Wishing you a smooth start to the new school year:))
Ahhh thank you SO much!! I also wish you a smooth start to the school year and I hope your anticipated transition to the SLP world goes well! <3 I'm rooting for you~!

Thanks for the video !
Thank you for being here! <3
I love this family, they are wonderful parents, the girls are so smart and kind
Ys part 2 please
Thanks for your videos, they are sooo helpful. What percentage of my week would I expect to be doing face-to-face tasks versus writing-based tasks, if I went into speech path? E.g. direct client work versus report writing, emails etc. Thanks in advance for your reply, it's so hard to find specific information like this online.
Ahh thank you!!! So I would say it depends on the placement. If you're working for a public school, we're limited to 8 (30 minute) sessions and 30 minutes for paperwork per day. One time per week, we get 45 minutes for IEP reports, and other paperwork. When I was working for an agency in the school setting, we got paid fee-for-service, so all my paperwork had to be done before/after work hours aka my weekend lol. At nursing homes, I think I had about an hour to max 1 hour of paperwork and the rest of the time was direct face to face tasks. Hope this helps!
Ugh I’m a speech therapist. A good one. I work well with kids. But I hate giving feedback to parents. It makes sense in my mind but it usually comes out sounding weird.
I get that. It can be a sensitive topic to bring up to parents. When you say it comes out weird, what do you mean by that? For me, I always try to reframe my words positively. Instead of calling something a "weakness" I call it a "growth area." Instead of "your child can't do this this and this" I try to say, "in class they're expected to do ABC, and I observed your child needs XYZ support to complete them," and I also ask what the parents notice at home, rather than me bringing it up first. And doing a positive sandwich, start with something I like about the kid, some things they're working on, and ending with a positive as well.
This is was such an awesome, informative video, Heather! I’m writing this before it’s finished but already you have covered so much and have given me a lot of insight on what to expect and how to prepare for starting school in January and beyond!
Wow thank you so much Alexia!!! Best of luck with school in January!!! Lmk if there are other questions/topics you'd like me to cover :)
white people can be bilingual. weird to bring up race
The statistics refer to the Member Profile that ASHA publicized. To be a bilingual SLP, there is an additional academic track, with more courses, training, exams and certificates. Sure, white people can be bilingual, I meant to say that in the SLP world specifically, many of them are not trained/certified to provide bilingual speech services. Hope this gave some clarification.
If you speak properly to your babies from the beginning , ie no baby talk, they will learn to speak comprehensively at a very young age. Did it with my son.

안녕하세요~ heatherpark.slp@gmail.com 에 이메일 보내시면돼요
Been watching Frankie since she first started talking.
What did you get your undergraduate degree in?
I have my bachelor’s in Linguistics ~ I think it made me a stand out candidate instead of the usual CSD track. Plus, my college didn’t offer the speech major at the time
Go back further when she was an only child. She's been speaking. Not only clear speech, she can match inflections. Perfect pitch
Yeah, I saw an SLP class and it was 100% white, mostly blonde women… I fall into that category.
Toliko izloẓ̌iti decu javnosti mislim da je suludo.
Parents who take time to speak with their kids develop these skills - because they really enjoy their kids! Sadly, not all families have the time or energy given the pragmatics of living
I'm a dumb and only knew one of these :D The linguistic determinism example I heard of is how eskimo people have like a bunch of words for snow (of all kinds/textures/etc) while we mainly just use "snow," so their added attention to detail lets them prepare and navigate their environments more thoughtfully than us since we basically just respond to "snow" with "boots and a jacket" and not much else
Always looking forward to your videos! Your voice is very soothing as well:) Thank you for sharing!!
Aww thank you so much 🥰
