The SkarBassOne sounds a lot better in this video but I have got the Darkglass Microtubes Infinity and make it sound a lot clearer and a lot less compressed than the way it has been setup for this video.
Sr5006 or this, which sounds better?
@@dineshlamarumba4557 If you compare both basses with factory settings definitely the SR5006 sounds much better but it is 34" scale. But if you take the SRMS806 and change the preamp and pickups you will have an excellent sound with extra long scale.
At first it kinda sounds like panic attack from dream theatre
Hello, how can I buy one like it? Any trusted reference?
@@renzogomez5905 hi Renzo, if you want drop me a message and I can help you david9mm@gmail.com
I'd love to hear what the open B with distortion sounds like. Also, can you compare it to a Dingwall. Similarities/ differences in playability and tone? I'd love a video with direct A/B comparison
Later, I can record a video showing the open B string with distortion but a direct A/B comparison is no longer possible because I sold the Dingwall some time ago.
@@Serpabass so you sold a dingwall and got a grosmann? I'm about to order my custom build
@@SamSkarab121 I sold the Dingwall a little over a year ago. Then I thought I still needed a multiscale bass with 37" so I liked the idea of it being headless and bought the Grosmann.
@@Serpabass I just can't justify so much money on a dingwall when grosmann can produce a matching bass for half the price, and the build time for a dingwall is 3 times as long. So how do you find the grosmann? Does it play well? Would it be a good touring bass? Thanks for your time
@@SamSkarab121 Anytime mate! Dingwall makes incredible basses, even those made in China. Grosmann basses are excellent basses. They are very versatile and sound great. It is a comfortable bass to play and that it is headless makes it a very nice neckdive free bass. Tell to Cristian ypu talked with me.
How does the Grosman compare to the Dingwall?
The Grosmann is lighter. The Delano pickups together with the Grosmann preamp make a good job. Although both basses are 37" scale, the Dingwall sounds fatter.
How many 9 volt batteries does this thing take?
The bass uses just one 9 volt battery
mannnn i need to work on my tone so badly. Im just horrible at figuring out my highs
Why is that? What equipment are you using?
The skar bass pedal sounds more tight which makes it stand out more
Yes! It has more punch and it is much easier to set a good tone.
Is this a direct pedal-to-audio interface, or do you have some post-processing? Also, I remember you had IbanezSRMS806 and we talked over Kleinanzeigen, can you tell me because I don't remember now well you installed Darkglass Tone Capsule in it? And you mentioned Augilar pickups can you tell me which ones are compatible with this Ibanez I have 5 strings. Thanks!
Hey dude! It only has Cab Sim. In this video I use the same Cab Sim for the DK and the Skar. There are no other processes. From the interface straight to the camera. Yes, I had a SRMS806 and I installed the DK Tone Capsule preamp on that bass and I wanted to install some Aguilar DCB D4 pickups. I don't know what model of aguilar pickups work for the 5 string version but you can measure your pickups and go to the aguilar website and check the measurements for.
@@SerpabassThanks for the answer!
@@tomislavnebojsatokic4821 anytime!
I have a four string version arriving at my door any minute. I've thought about a multi scale bass ever since trying a Dingwall at NAMM in 2017, but didn't want to pay Dingwall money.
That extra percussive thump that’s ever-so-slightly late is from hitting the muted string below the one you’re playing…your video angle shows it happening. Cleaning that up will make your articulation sound cleaner and more punchy.
Thanks!
Hey buddy! Can you upload something with 5th string? Maybe all strings How it sounds with pick/fingers...
Hi mate! Yes, I will
Sick! I wanna learn some tapping honestly, any songs you can recommend with fun tapping sections?
Thanks 🍺😎 I recommend you check out Stu Hamm, who besides being one of my favorite bass players he uses tapping a lot and is really fun to learn and play. Cheers!
I thought it was a headless Dingwall
Maybe because of the similarity of the color?
i did too
@@Serpabass also because of the body shape and neck i guess
I once asked Cristian Grosu if he thought this model looked similar to an NG2 and he said not at all. I guess I'm not the only one. AWESOME tapping skills, also!
@@finalgravityband thank you! Cristian is right. I had a Dingwall and there is no similarity between the NG2/NG3 and the Hess. Well, both are multiscale and in this case the color is similar to the Dingwall Lambo Orange but the body shape is very different, the Hess is headless, the pickups position is different and even down to the switches. Dingwall includes a single switch for active/passive mode and the Hess has two that are for Humbucker/Single Coil mode of each pickup.
💪🔥
🍺😎
What pedals do you use?
SkarBassOne and Microtubes Infinity
Nice tone! What's the signal chain?
Thanks Bob! The main tone comes from the SkarBassOne from Trondheim Audio Devices. The signal chain is Tuner > SkarBassOne > Darkglass Microtubes Infinity. Cheers 🍻
Hi! Can you skip the cab simulation in Darkglass - it affects the sound a lot ;) Also, can you make this crazy test: use both of them - SkarBassOne first in the chain with a nice mid-ish tone and then use the power of the Darkglass to fine-tune it and use different drives? Boosted (by SkarBasOne) mids should improve the drive quality in the Darkglass and still give you plenty of options for fine-tuning the sound by controls on your bass guitar. I am using this Darkglass unit a lot, and now I have added Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra earlier in my effects chain with slightly boosted mids, and it works so much better now.
Hey! Yes, the Cab Sim has a huge influence on the sound and depending on the type of Cab Sim it affects it even more. I personally use it all the time. And yes, I actually use both pedals simultaneously now. The SkarBassOne at the beginning of the chain and the Darkglass afterwards for DI and for adjusting and EQing whatever is needed. The result is simply brutal.
The Skar had better clarity. Great upload, all bass tones sounded great.
Thanks mate. The SkarBassOne is an amazing pedal!
Would love to hear a clean tone comparison 🤘🏻
It is a good idea. I'm going to try to do it this weekend 🍺😎
yo how did you set your tone? sounds badass
Thanks mate! I was using the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra and the Valeton Daper Bass direct to the interface without post-eq
Loved the flag 🤘🤘 saludos!
Gracias! 🍺😎
Wow! the lows seemed pushed and the tone also has a great growl to it in the mids! What are you doing in post?
Hey, thanks mate! There´s nothing in the post. It's just the sound of the pedals direct to the interface.
@@Serpabass no even a cab sim?
@@tibi1687 yes! The Cab Sim come direct from the Darkglass Microtubes Infinity
Is this Panic Attack by Dream Theater?
Nop, in fact Panic Attack is in another tone.
it also a pretty affordable bass
Yes!!
Excellent video, you got the two pedals to sound similar. Can I ask what the skar bass settings are? since its difficult to see the line markers on the shiny knobs. I just got my Skar One unit with the hope of finding bass tones that don't sound like Darkglass units.
Thanks Frank! Excellent purchase! The SkarBassOne is magic. It's very easy to make the bass sound good in any situation. It's similar to the Darkglass but more aggressive and I like the distortion better. Plus the compressor is unique, in fact, I only use the compressor of the Skar. I'll send you my configuration.
Compressor: 70% Mids: 25% Drive: 55% Tone: 65% Mix: 75%
@@Serpabass Thanks Serpabass-- I'll try these settings out. I agree the Skar one compressor is fantastic. The Trondheim team should think about releasing just the compressor by itself (hint, hint). I saw a video where the designer of the skar one pedal said the compressor is a FET with "all buttons in" mode.
@frankmarini5391 yes, you're right! The only thing I would add to the Skar to make it an "all in one" is a cabinet simulator.
Make this a whole song this is fireee
Thanks mate! 🍺 😎
Thank you for creating content!
My pleasure!
Hey bro finally I made gear tutorial video! Just let you know, hope you enjoy :D
Hey bro! I'll check it! Thanks
Short scale bass or big man?
The bass is long scale, 34" scale.
>>>>
Thanx for creating the video!
Thanks to you for making such a piece of gear!
Which one did you like the most?
I personally like the Photon better. In my opinion, the AOP feels more sustain and presence, plus it has many functions in the same unit, while the AOU has slightly more spicy distortions.
@@Serpabass could the compressor on the photon have made difference between the ultra?
@@베이스치는마이콜 Yes. By putting the Photon before the AOU the compressor affects it in the same way as the Photon. The difference with the AOU with and without compressor is quite noticeable.
thats sounds awesome are you using a compressor darkglass?
Thanks dude! Nop, here I was using the EBS Multicomp Blue Label Compressor. Great compressor btw
@@Serpabass I’ve never tried that one only one I use is the darkglass hyperluminal haven’t tried any others. I need to learn how to do this I love watching thes and the NG sounds sweet I have a combustion looking to get a NG
@@Garrett-In-Canada I've never used a Darkglass compressor. Of all the compressors I've tried so far, this EBS has been the absolute best. I no longer have it. I simplified my pedalboard and now I only have the Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon. The Dingwall NG is a great bass. Very versatile. 100% recommended
@@Serpabass only issue I’ve been having is going from fan fret to regular fretting that muscle memory so I’ve been selling off my other basses and just going to stick with fan fret it’s what I prefer over the two
@@Garrett-In-Canada Tje fan fretted basses are very comfortable. I've been using them for three years like this and the change from regular frets to fanned frets went smoothly. But it happens to me just like you, when I change from fanned frets to normal frets I get a little clumsy. Of course it's a matter of habit but now I feel much more comfortable with fanned frets
What a beautiful instrument and you play at so well too! Nice job brother! 😎🤘🎸😎
Thanks man! 🍺😎
🤘🤘🤘🤘

I'm looking at getting the ng3 in January sometime, I play 5 normally but that 6 is looking tempting!! How does it play/feel dude ?
Hey Adam, sorry for the late. I don't know why but I didn't receive notification of your comment. 6 string feels great. It's very easy to play. Besides that there are many more possibilities to make arrangements, especially tapping.
@@Serpabassthanks for the reply dude , definitely getting a 6, seems the natural progression for us bass players I think haha. Keep up the riffing dude 🤘
@@adammee5437 You're completely right. Get a 6 string. You will not regret it 🍺😎
Have you move the pickup height since you bought this bass. If not , could you measure it for me. I also have this bass and forgot what the factory setup was
Hey Gary. Nop, I didn't move any height pickup. I'll measure, no problem.
I think the compressor on the photon only compresses the clean signal. By sending the ultra through this compressor, youre compressing the whole ultra tone, which is not the way the photon works.
Hey bro! In the Darkglass Suite app you can choose whether to use the compressor at the beginning or at the end of the chain. I use it at the beginning of the chain, which is in fact how it comes from the factory. Using the Photon compressor at the front of the AOU does not affect the Ultra tone at all. The compressor affects the entire chain
That was sick. I've have one of these arriving next month, what is everything dialed to on yours? What pickups you using and stuff
Thanks dude. Here I'm using the Darkglass Alpha Omega Ultra with the Ampeg Optocomp, both pickups and switch in the Power Tap mode
Great tone on that! I’m looking at that same finish on an NG2, thinking of pulling the trigger. How does it look in person? Some vibrant colors can almost look like toy, you know what I mean? Looks killer on camera but I’ve never seen the Ferrari green in person. :)
Thanks mate! I had the same doubt. I had never seen the Ferrari Green and ordered it anyway and I can tell you that the first impression when I took it out of the box was ¡WOW! After a year I am still very happy that I chose this color. In fact if you look at my instagram you can see that in concert I do Matchig shoes with the Ferrari Green and it looks great! Go for the Ferrari Green, there's no way you'll regret it 🍻
@@Serpabass I really appreciate the quick reply on that! It’s settled then, Ferrari Green it is. Matching shoes is a killer move. Thanks again man and keep on keeping on!
@@Blacklight_Music Anytime bro 🍺😎
And gauge string if U don't mind please mate
No problem mate. The gauge I use is the Dingwall Standars 6 String set: .030" .045" .055" .080" .100" .130".
37 to 33 interesting, what tuning U using?
I'm using Standard B tuning
Out of all the vids I've watched on both of these pedals, that's the best sounding one I've heard hands down.
Thank you mate 🍻
Sounds great. I see you use headphones. Do you use those studio monitors too? Do you get the same sound as you do in headphones?
Thanks! I use the headphones to record and then I mix with the monitors. The sound of the bass is pretty much the same but the headphones have a lot more treble, the monitors are flatter and don't emphasize the treble as much.
Tap tap tappeh. All in the hips.
Wow bro absolutely amazing, that tone is amazing, kinda reminds me of Justin’s from Tool
Thanks mate! I really appreciate it! 🍺😎
Just watched this. With earbuds in. The stereo audio on the R track is killing my right ear... All that aside this was REALLY neat!
Sorry, my bad! 🍻
