The Navagraha Temple is found on the top of Chitrasal Hill in Guwahati city. Navagraha temples are temples devoted to Navagraha-the nine major celestial bodies of Hindu astronomy.These celestial bodies are named Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Brihaspati, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. This temple is one of the reasons Guwahati was referred to as Pragjyotishpura or city of eastern astronomy.It is believed that the Navagraha Temple was built somewhere in 18th century during the time of Ahom king Rajeshwar Singha.
