That is a wonderful story. I would however never describe someone as having earned the right to smoke. Smoking is a terrible trap and Eric's mother knew how terrible this trap was because she was in it and she did not want her son to fall into the very same trap which then gave her the courage to step out of that trap in an instant.

Hello Eric. No idea if you check your comments, but I wanted to thank you for your uplifting story. I've been in and out of hospital for the last little while and things are somewhat difficult of late. Happy tales are a soothing balm. I hope all these years later that you and yours are making new happy stories.
