Being DOWN just DOESNT MATTER!
Last nights game against the Tampa Bay Lightning was a battle again, They took two goals against in the last first early second period but managed to score twice in 1:39 seconds to tie the game at 2, in the third period Joel Armia finds Jake Evans on the open side and he buries it to give the Habs a 3-2 lead with 2:15 seconds left in the game.
Ivan Demidov had a few really really phenomenal highlights yesterday while playing for SKA, I talk a little about that and my excitement to see him play on the Habs.
Hutson is also on a 9 game point streak, tying the rookie defenseman record for a point streak.

Last nights loss the Maple Leafs wasn't a great one, they let in 7 unanswered goals to lose a 3-0 lead gained in the 1st period. Sorry about my mic I was having some technical difficulties There was still alot of positives coming out of the loss, as I think this one will be a mentality builder for them, let me know what you think about that in the comments. Some QUESTIONS for the HABS this season
Evans first goal in a month. This team has something special going on... I am just worried about key injuries.. Guhle was hurt in 3rd and I saw the whole season falling apart.
He stuck around though, seems like we're getting a bit lucky on those small ones these days.
Loved the game! Wish we could see these two in the playoffs.
Its always more exciting when theres a chance for us to face each other
What a great game!! Go Leafs Go!! But for real, I can’t wait to see the Habs and Leafs again in the playoffs, even if it didn’t go so well for us last time.
A;ways fun competing with you guys in the post season
PAINFUL
WITH PAIN COMES GAIN
@@HabsSoulFood7 unanswered goals is a gain 😂😂😂😂😂
Lane's got such strong hands and like you said a super elite hockey player since Markov but, his ceilling is unimaginable!
Agreed, his celling is really, really high, not only is he out performing the likes of Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes in their rookie seasons, he's doing it in a dominant way offensively & defensively
What about a 2nd round pick? Lane was a 2nd rounder.
I personally wouldn't take a 2nd rounder for Evans, thats how much I value his presence on the Habs
@@HabsSoulFood he's not taking a hometown discount!
@ you never know, it’s more and more common these guys take discounts if they buy into what we’re building here, time will tell. But I see something happening here
Dvorak should go for sure trade. Evans should be offered a fair contract (3-4mil) depending on term. Anderson, Armia could be moved. Probably too expensive to keep. Galley, stays until death. Dach has been given too much attention and care to get rid of now. His upside could be huge, especially since it looks like he's turning the corner. Time will tell, the kids moving up the pipeline will determine actions taken by management.
Agreed, Dvo's value is extremely low and we would probably have to pay to get rid of him, I love Evans I would love to see him signed at 3-3.5 for 4 years, I think term will be a problem at his end though. Gally might be able to stay if we have to wait on someone coming up but with Hage, Beck, Kapanen, Roy, ABB, and so many others , we'll see what happens

KEEP ON WINNIN BOYS
Savard to leafs for who?
Let's keep four lines rolling.
Dear young man, ive been a fan of the Habs since the sixties and i am really excited about our future. They are playing for each other, ask Alexandre Carrier in the journal de Montreal and playing according to MSL's plan. Its awesome.
As always with every single potential trade, it depends on what they're willing to give in exchange. However, if I'm Montreal, if you're not offering me a great deal for Savard, I am in no rush to trade him. In fact, if the Habs are still relatively close to a playoff (even wildcard) spot in March, then why would I trade Savard instead letting help the team play games where the result actually matters, that's part of rebuilding a team too at some point. Carrier stabilized MTL's defence, he didn't somehow made David Savard obsolete lol. Heck, as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't even completely reject the idea of offering Savard a new contract (if he's willing to play one last season in MTL, maybe not play every game, keep being the perfect big brother...Mailloux is never going to replace Savard, and Reinbacher is still a huge question mark, especially because of his in injuries.) That being said, there also are absolutely zero reasons to sign Savard right now either.....Let's just play hockey and see where we are in a while.....unless some team decides to make a crazy offer for Savard.....which would be dumb of them (and I do think Savard is a very solid player.)
I agree, I think it mainly boils down to where they are in the standings, but if they are in the realm of trading him away, a few teams will pay a 1st for him most likely so I know it's about the deal itself but its no question that Savard's services are worth a first rounder, saying things like "Mailloux will never replace Savard" doesn't make sense right now because those players are so much younger and still have alot of time to develop in the Habs system, with Carrier now involved, only 1 of Reinbacher or Mailloux have to actually pan out in a top 4 role because we have players who can play both sides (Guhle, Struble, Xhekaj even) so we dont need 3 top 4 RHD we need 2, Carrier and one of Mailloux or Reinbacher, if they both prove themselves Carrier can move to bottom pair
@@randombutrelevant I think it still depends on where the Habs are come trade deadline, I can guarantee that Hughes won’t be buying big with any future assets come deadline as that’s obvious, but if the Habs are in a decent spot to fight for the wildcard come deadline, Savard is the worst player to trade away, there isn’t any accelerating the rebuild if he stays, it may actually be more beneficial for players like Slafkovsky, Hutson and others to get playoff experience with a player like Savard for development If the team is in a good spot I could realistically see no big moves made by the Habs at the deadline and simply waiting for the offseason, this season is special for the Habs in that fact for they can fight for the playoffs if they play right but it’s also okay for them to be bottom 5-10 again for another pick, the Habs have a lot of picks next draft already and while getting more picks is good, Hughes isn’t going to actively hinder the team on a push for the wildcard, because like it or not, that’s the goal this season, it’s perfectly normal at this point to want the team to take a step forward, but at the same time they also understand that this season isn’t what the finished product will be, there’s still many players already drafted by the Habs that need to be slotted in after guys like Dvorak, Anderson, Armia, and Gally are gone (ify on Evans they may resign him)
@@randombutrelevant My point is not about hoping to win or even to make the playoffs this year. My point is teaching the young core how to play important games that matter this year. I really don't think that MTL will make the playoffs, and even if they make it, they're not going to win the cup lol, I'm not saying "Hey, go trade our first round pick to acquire some 36 year old second line rental".....that would be super dumb, but sometimes, having good veterans surrounding your young core is important. Rebuilding is not only about finishing as close to last position as possible and drafting as early as possible. Sure it's part of the equation, but that's not the whole thing. I don't see the rush in trading Savard in January. Sure he could get injured, but injuries have not been a recurring problem in his career. If some team is offering you an amazing player for Savard or Mattheson, then sure you go for it, but I'm not convinced that we'll get much more by trading Savard now then by trading him in a month and a half.......And if by some miracle, the Habs are somehow fighting for a playoff spot and they choose to keep Savard so that the organization can send the kids some sort of "We're proud of you, we're not going to punish you for working your butts off" message by not trading Savard therefore encouraging the kids to keep learning the difference between September hockey and February hockey, then I'm all for it.....I'm not opposed to trading Savard, but I'm definitely not in favour of rushing a trade at all cost when he already is bringing something to the team that a draft pick would not be able to bring. I don't want MTL to do like the Buffalo Sabres and miss the playoffs and be sellers for 13 consecutive years......That's just a recent example I have in mind because Mtl happened to play Buffalo last week.
Tough long annual road trip coming up, it will make or break the season. Sellers or buyers.
@@MorganBurton could be what sets the team in a direction for the rest of the season I agree

It's not a hump it is a lack of hockey IQ and has been relevant since the rebuild started.Besides hockey IQ we also lack toughness and shooting IQ only Caufield has shooting IQ.With a lack of toughness this team will always be weak on the boards and in front of the net and so far in 2+ years the front of the opposing net must be laced with dynamite becuase the players are afraid of the dirty areas.
really wasnt prevalent last year, the team had way more compete in them it seems, this year it looks like they arent trying defensively, the offense looks pretty good though, they generate alot of good chances, but lack the effort on the defensive end to get even better ones. We are only 3 years in, so we have alot of time to learn
Time to call up Joshua Roy!
I agree, but who do we send down?
Good stuff! I am not sold Newhook is a top 6 forward.
neither am I to be honest, he is a good depth piece though and would be good for the bottom 6 after Gally and Andy are gone or maybe even a trade piece if our lower tier prospects work out and outplay him
What do the Habs have? A terrible mangement team who have lost more trades than they've won, and a coach who as much as I like him has NO clue about systems. It's NOT good.

This looks like such a cheap shot at first but if you play it in slow motion right when the Leafs player is about to make contact he lifts his leg so it's not directly knee to knee contact but on the same frame where you see him lift his knee, if you look at his body posture it looks like he's going to follow through with a full check which would have been way better and probably not have resulted in a leg injury but the next frame is when you see the other Leafs player pull up behind Laine so the Leafs player about to lay out Laine pulls away from the check he was about to hit him with as to not check Laine into his own teammate and him pulling out of the check is what resulted into clipping out Laine's leg at the knee. I guarantee what happened isn't what he wanted to happen but at the same time even if it would have been a clean check, it's preseason and you don't usually see people going for hits like that during preseason. It happened very fast and you have a split second to think about it. I don't believe for a second that he tried to intentionally injure Laine
I don't believe that he tried to injure him no, anyone that thinks that is delusional tbh, but Pare knows the position he is in is a bad one defensively for Laine's play, and desperately uses his leg to cut Laine off.
how do you do
only hockey players will see that was not a legal hit he missed his hit then hits him with the knee did not even move, a player know he can spin that knee the other way and theres no contact
@@bobbyboucher-k9t that’s fair, it’s hard to understand if you can’t out yourself if Pare’s position

@@annarichify Pare definitely knows the position he’s putting Laine in, I don’t think he meant to injure him obviously, he just wanted to do his job, but what he did was out of desperation and last ditch effort, those plays happen 10-15 times a game where players split the D on entry during a power play and Laine is 6’4 + on skates how do you expect him to skate obviously his stance is going to be wider than most.. you just don’t notice it because most players don’t get knee on kneed…
@@HabsSoulFood he was defending. Thats it, that’s all
@@annarichify that’s not how you defend properly after you’ve been beaten flat footed

@@annarichifyLaine isn’t moving slow in this clip whatsoever that’s why Pare had to lunge out, the play was desperation at its finest, if this is so common place why don’t bigger players get injured more often because they ALL have huge skating stances
All Pare did was bend his knee. Not stick it out. Laine just can’t play the North American game, it’s that simple.
@@JonJessome I disagree, to me it looks like as a last ditch effort he moves with his knee to cut him off.
@@HabsSoulFoodhe’s stationary the entire time. Laine tries to cut between 2 D. That’s the problem here. The only people that do NOT see it that way, are Hab fans. Also the same fans that are certain this was intent to injure. Joke
@@annarichify exactly, he’s stationary, that’s the point. He recognizes he is beat and as a last ditch effort, lunges out probably instinctively, intent to injure no but to say he didn’t mean to do this, joke. Even Suzuki said he lunged out.
It does make you wonder when someone is so injury prone that it is probably more that just back luck. Kind of like skating with your head down all the time. You’ll get your block knocked off. I really feel bad for Laine though!
