Incredible technical exercises! And what a power.
When the cat & the piano tuner go crazy !
Zimerman if he was good
legendaire
Thanks. Was looking for the piano solo version (got the music but not an orchestra!) thanks a lot. Much appreciated. Sounds beautiful 😍 Tony
🥲Truly a majestic musical inheritance! Hallelujah!👏💖
I have the same edition of the score open in front of me, I've been studying it. I love this piece.
I hear a lot of Shostakovich influence in early Pärt.
Love the reference to his Gamelang in Bali movement from the tour of the world in miniature in the Danse Javanaise, a cool detail
virginals have such a cool sound
shitting myself
epic
Octatonic!
Such a beautiful piece
The number 7 sounds funny
Beautiful
Where did you find the sheet music for these gems? I only see a few selections on IMSLP.
The score was added recently on IMSLP by me: imslp.org/wiki/12_Schubert_Songs_(Godowsky%2C_Leopold)

So pretty
Absolutely Beautiful! Sending God’s blessings 🧡🧡🧡🙏🙏🙏
Hello! May I know where I could get the transcription of this?
Please check the description
how different from the concerto? Can one play this for LTCL then enter for concerto festival?😂
ive been a fan (more like superficial enjoyer now apparently) of godowskys work for a while but i only knew a couple pieces and hardly any miniatures at all. suddenly all of these multiple-year-old videos of godowsky pieces show up in my feed. looks like ive been missing out on a lot of great stuff
Holly shit now i understand why so few pianists dare to play this piece of music❤❤❤❤❤
Another delightful arrangement by Godowsky and an utterly charming, playful performance by Scherbakov! I still can't get over the fact that he's recorded Godowsky's complete piano music, not to mention a ton of other repertoire, including all the Beethoven piano sonatas and Beethoven/Liszt symphonies - his time management skills must be superhuman!
Indeed !! I admire Scherbakov a lot, his dedication towards Godowsky's music and other repertoire is truly amazing
This Sonata is great in so many ways except the one most important thing in any music - melody. How is Thalberg, master of operatic paraphrases, capable of being so mediocre as a lyricist? It's perplexing. Döhler is any day better despite having less interesting texture and figurations in his writing for the simple fact that he could write a tune. If only Thalberg had been a better melodist, this work could compete with Chopin's Sonatas. I like a few Thalberg works, but alas, this isn't one of them...
Wooooow!!!
Great works, wonderfully performed!
The tone production in V is to die for.
BRAVO, Maestro Scherbakov.....from Acapulco!
nice
I'm afraid it sounds a little muddy too me. Top melody needs to be a notch louder, dial everything else down.
I am not so enthousiastic about this. Gives the impression of piano accompaniment for a 1920ies silent movie. After all it is not difficult to get a feeling of tension and anxiety by stringing minor chords together with diminished 7th runs. The formula is all to obvious.
This is actually very tame for Godowsky 😂
beautiful. thanks a lot:)
Great work, I hear Berg and Scriabin. And Liszt of course.
Yes, Clara Schumann did admired Thalberg's play, when he performed in Leipzig where she lived at the time. Especially his octave play. She thought it is one of the best she heard.
What a gorgeous transcription!
Probably one of the most emotionally expressive works I’ve ever heard from this period
Good old Schubert...❤❤❤
So delicious.
Thanks for the score video! I especially loved how Godowsky reharmonized Heidenroslein, I’m a sucker for those V-VI progressions with chromatic ornaments😅
Yes....Heidenröslein....thanks for making me re-listen......Ingenious Meticulous.....Cheers from Acapulco!
Incredibly rich arrangements - they really reward repeated listens! Fascinating to compare some of these with what Liszt did with the same material - both are very valid but represent different styles - Liszt being more direct but Godowsky being more subtle and ornate.
True....a Colossal Curation.....BRAVI from Acapulco!
Thank you sooo much ❤
Learning the second movement for my grade 7 - it’s stunning!!

AGLIO OLIO PEPPERONCINO BLUES
This is my ideal piano music, and I didn't even know it existed already.
Mmm...K
What if instead of “Gershwin arrangements” it was “freaky arrangements” and instead of getting jazzy it got jazzy 😏
In all honesty though, it’s kinda crazy how he managed to make a Gershwin arrangement that’s not really jazzy at all
It was so calm and relaxing, but suddenly 12:32 happened
Even 12:32 was relaxing compared to 32:00
