Some themes you may encounter: cooking, cleaning, preserving food, gardening, crocheting, sewing, & various other hobbies I've collected throughout my life. None of this is without an end goal: having a homestead of our own one day. With a giant garden. More dogs. A greenhouse. Trees. Tons of trees. And dirt that is our very own. In this vlog, I continue on with storing my onions. I make a net to hang the onions through so they can dry out or "cure". This is essential for long term storage. I also harvest my first cabbage ever! A napa cabbage that I grew from seed! The variety is 'Hilton' from Baker Creek. After that, I finish my net and hang the onions in my kitchen because I live in an apartment. Small space living requires creative solutions when trying to figure out what to do with all of my garden produce!

it is a chioggia beet! much milder than a normal red beet. they are my favorite along with golden and white beets!

I hope you enjoyed our camping adventures! Although I've been camping a fair share of times in my life, I'm a little rusty 😅Who else is an anxious camper? I WANT to go camping but my brain says it's dangerous. The best way to quiet that brain chatter is by doing the exact opposite of what it's telling you to do. Go camping and see that it really isn't all that scary and the next time you go, it'll be more comfortable 🫶

last year I dried them but this year I am letting them be. I put the dried flowers in tea or use them as decor for baked goods

Those cabbage leaves are huge! When do they start forming into a “ball”?
@@Blue_gizmoo they are forming their cabbage head now! Seems to be able halfway through the (first year) growing cycle
Water when the sun goes down.... You'll keep the moisture longer giving it more time to soak deeper. Watering in the sun will scorch the leaves where all the photosynthesis happens... Get your compost in a worm farm... Get a big tank 30 or 40 gallons to make Nettle-water... Start it early in the season so it has time to break down in the water... It'll appear like a black sludge-water... It's Like adding NOS & TURBO to a V8 engine..

Spinach sucks 😂 even when you do get a bunch, once you cook it you’re left with a pea sized amount. I vote for other greens, the komatsuna looks amazing!

I would do half inside and half outside to see which one works best. Especially in Colorado where the weather is so sporadic and the nights are colder.
We'll see how well the little cucumber I saved does this year! When I have more space and better lighting, I think I'll do a little of both for sure.

I saw y'all had salmon at the denver german market but eat vegan at home mainly, I'm so curious because I'm a dairy-free pescatarian so I often opt for vegan places. Esp bc if I eat eggs or fish I'm SO picky about where it's from.
Yesss, we eat like 95% plant based and occasionally fish/seafood. I usually cook plant based at home and have fish/seafood out if that's the only thing I can get.
