DIY curved Platinum stairlift. Built from second hand parts
My journey in building a curved stairlift for my 90 years old father. Despite what was built was clearly not Stannah quality, the money savings has been enormous!. This stairlift was built second hand parts, which consisted of 2 Platinum stairlifts and a Stannah stairlift where i needed the gear racks.
Farmer kills 6 feet long snake.

6 feet long snake found hiding in a chicken coop. The chicken coop has lost 5 chicks in 2 weeks. Not sure if the snake is the only predictor, but looking at the snake's profile, it does look suspicious.

I want to build one from scratch. How is the chair actually powered? Is it a battery under the seat?

I'm not sure the details of this. When i did it, i bought old Stannah tracks and cut out the the bits i wanted. Surprisingly you can bend the tracks with brute force and vice - didnt even need to heat up.

Great job !! In a similar postion myself .................. did you need to programme the seat after install ?

Hi. Yes the seat needs to be programmed. At the time, i found a tech manual on the net telling how to do it. It's all done from within the seat's control panel (there are 2 or 3 buttons there). Sorry, i don't have the manual anymore.

Hi, great job! I'm trying to do the same thing but I don't know how to bend the rack. For tubes their are bending machines but not for racks. How did you do? Thanks

Hi. surprising, they weren't that hard to bend. I just put them in the vice and bent it cold. They appear to be a softer type of metal compare to the tubes. I think in some areas, I had to put some cuts to encourage the bending points, then wield them back together afterwards. Best of luck
