Great job Cynthia!
Hi
👋👋👋
I loved being on the show with you guys and I know some people are going to be listening and watching this! So let's blow up engagement and I'll answer 6:24 "Maybe it doesn't happen that often" It does! But probably not to the fullest extent I discussed. More often than not, we half transition, where we do help hire individuals to help build the team internally, but we remain champions on various initiatives. For example, SEO stays within the FYA boat and events moves in-house. 11:27 "Standing Out" I always joke about this. No one likes to receive a "Hermes Berkin" in a wet paper bag... because the first impression throws off the final outcome. We are people so heavily influenced by context (anchoring) and standing out plays a heavy role if someone even trusts you from the day you meet. It was great you guys invested in a creative strategy and it's something that is heavily overlooked by many companies. 22:23 "Can you make direct mail work for anything" Yes, because its a function of time and resources. Given enough time and money, you can always find the right offer... with the right creative that will ultimately drive a conversion that will be economical. However, that's a simplistic answer - there are complexities with whether or not that combination will equal a large enough market to pursue. Example, perhaps this combination only can convert 2% of a total audience available in a social channel. 23:50 "Why didn't our blogs work out" It was likely a function of traffic and CTA testing. Again, time and resources. How much time can you devote to writing a blog that... even ranks. Then, how much time can you focus on building a funnel on that page that YIELDS a true conversion? Will a in-line CTA work better vs a white box? What is the CTA? What offer is it? What sales follow-up look like. Split testing takes time... and split testing takes data. So not only do you need enough "data" aka... visitors, you have to further invest time into meaningful split tests.

No preaching! Just trying to help pay it forward to our entrepreneurial peers! 😊

What year was it at the heel of the hockey stick?
It's usually a projection of future growth, so it's likely Navio is right around the heel now and moving upward.
I am no closer to understanding what Navio is or what makes anything they do "really cool."
Hi - Thanks for your reply! Navio is a platform that streamlines immigration, and they're taking a very innovative approach to an otherwise slow and time consuming process. We really like it because they're scaling something that was previously thought to be unscalable. See our podcast interview with Navio Founder Brooke Finlay for a detailed explanation: ruclips.net/video/68Eqfei04Fs/видео.html

Haha Dave's pretty ridiculous.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LOVING IT
I think you meant Teletype machine, not Telegraph. Basically like a Daisy wheel printer/typewriter connected to a phone line to transmit/receive messages. In the early 80s my school still had one in the computer lab (that we had computer labs in the early 80s was frankly amazing) just to show kids different office techs. I think I only saw it used once. It's possible it was used administratively by the school to get messages from the school board HQ or something.
Did some googling, and I think you might be right - good catch! Even our Dad (self described fax machine expert) was a bit foggy on which tech was used before fax. The key differentiator was that the fax machine had the signature, and that's why the fax technology became popular. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)
Hey! Dave here. Thanks WhiskyCanuck for this! You're TOTALLY right. Thanks for the correction!
@@StartupDifferent Yeah. It still gets me that doctors & lawyers still use faxes because of the manual signature (vs digital cryptographic signature), and some weird perceptions about the security around it. - T1
Minimum wage and 2X min wage, and you are handing out smart phones and other cheap crap at your little corporate pep rallies. Do you give them a gold star sticker when they do good too? Wow, where do I sign up?
Thanks for the comment Joe. Yeah, it can be tough to strike a balance between giving too much and too little praise/support. Obviously we were more on the side of giving more than less - and that's not everyone's approach. But generally it worked pretty well (except for the occasional sideways flying employee review).
Wow, so true! This is real good stuff right here. Whew, I’m still reeling from it. What a rush.
It isnt bro 💀
