Anakulam - Kerala's Elephant Paradise | Mankulam, Idukki
Situated around 45kms from Munnar, Anakulam lies on the border between the two districts of Ernakulam and Idukki. A small village but nowadays is visited by a lot of tourists, mostly because of the presence of the jumbos.
I don’t know any other place, at least in Kerala, where you can sit under a tree and sip a coffee and watch wild elephants from a distance of hardly 50 meters.
This small hamlet in the district of Idukki in Kerala for years attracted these elephants to this particular part of the stream and the water bubbles that come out of it that have a particular salty flavor. That is what I got to know and that is what I got to...

What month did you do the trek?
Nice videography. Can you tell what is the cost of package? All Safari arranged by the resort?
Did you not get to see two safari ?
Proud of you. U did it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hey, thank you so much
A very enjoyable video and am glad you are okay! Curious though - I know that this trek doesn't invole any technical skills or climbing but you do have to be quite physically fit to do it, and there's no telling how one's body will react to the altitude. Why did you not do any treks leading up to this once you had decided to do this? Why were you comfortable with this being your maiden trek, because if it was your first, it also meant that you didn't know how your body would hold up with trekking in general, let alone with the altitude? I noticed you are from Bangalore and there are so many treks nearby, did you not consider doing some to prepare yourself for the walks at least?
Hi, how are you? Thank you for your kind words. I’m not really a trekking enthusiast. I just wanted to go at least to the base camp, as I developed some fantasies about Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam etc. after reading "Into Thin Air” by Jon Krakauer. I was of course worried about the altitude. My only confidence was riding motorcycle through Umling La Pass in 2022, and it is at higher altitude than Everest Base Camp. But like an idiot, I learned the hard way that riding and trekking are both different. So, why I didn’t do any treks before this, I don’t really know. Mentally, I was there way before. Just took the body later! As you have mentioned physical fitness, I think Cardio in the gym helped me. And I walk a lot inside the city in Bangalore as well. I'm basically from the coastline in Kerala. Maybe spending time in the water has helped as well. I think it's mostly about your legs and lungs.
Thank you for sharing. I have getting ready to do this in 3 weeks time. question did you take any medication for the altitude?
Hi Chris, how are you? I did not take any medicine for altitude sickness beforehand. But I got the signs of sickness (headache & vomiting sensation) when I reached Gorakshep and I took medicine from my guide that night (after finishing Everest base camp) and the next day I was fine again and trekked back to Lukla. I'm not sure which tablet it was! (most probably diamox) But I’m sure you’ll be fine without any medication. All the best Chris.
Is this is captured in March 2024?
Hey yes!
Nice. i also upload my Everest base camp trek video

Hi Archana, thank you so much!!
Is this right time to visit anakulam ?
Hi, the elephants visit this place almost every single day. So I think yes, it’s the right time!
Hi Bro we are planning for jungle safari this month end. Please suggest whether this is the right time to go
Hi, how are you? You cannot see much greenery around at this time. It’s dry almost everywhere in the forest. But I don’t think it affects animal sightings. I think you should go!
Thanks bro
Great
Thank you!
Really nice video
Thank you brother!
Great vid! Can you help me with few questions please? Did you have a guide as well or just porter? Do you know if it's mandatory to have a guide? Is it not so busy during February as it's not preferred season?
Hello Suraj, how are you? Yes, we had an experienced guide for the group. And it's not mandatory to have a guide for EBC, you can go solo as well. I went in February, and it was not crowded at all. It was only our group at the base camp when we reached there.
@@14doxx no solo trekking as of a few months ago!
Great video. How many safaris did you do sir?
Hi Karan, how are you? I took a package that includes 2 safaris. Thanks for your words.

@@krishnamurthi2144 Hi, did you complete the trek?
I fell sick when I went to Annapurna base camp and I went down instead haha, you did good tho you fell sick too 💪🏼
Haha thank you. I just saw some of your videos it’s so nice!
Is a porter or guide required for this EBC trek, as per the latest regulations, or may we do it without them -Solo?
Hey there! From what I read online I can see that solo trekking is not banned in Sagarmatha National Park region. That means we can still trek solo to EBC. But all this news is from 2023 publishing. I just reached out to some official I met there. I'll let you know what he says. Edit: Just got confirmation that we can still do solo trekking to EBC!
You can do solo. No issues at all, but be prepared for all the adversaries.
Very authentic, thanks! Respect for this being your first hike, crazy!
Hey, thank you so much for that!
which hotel and package
Hi, Jungle Lodges and Resorts. Viceroy Package.
Can you please share the Full details
Hi, I took a package through ‘Himalayan Wonders’. You can go through their website once. Detailed information is available there.
Bro currently I am doing almost same !! Daily 7 kg backpack walk 3 kms and climb 28 floors without weight as of now ! Hopefully will follow ur footsteps
Congratulations 🥳 on your success. Liked your slow narration. Some questions 1) which month did you climb & did u need any additional gear for snow? 2) did u get to shower beyond namche. What was the cost? 3 ) did u use sleeping bags? Or just liner.
Ravi ji, thanks for the kind words. The trek was in the last week of February. It was almost dry everywhere until Dingboche (6th day). Even after that, it was so bright during the daytime that by noon the trail was dry again. So we didn’t need much extra gear specifically for snow. I managed with 2 layers of clothing. About shower, I didn’t shower beyond Namche Bazaar but my crazy teammates did. So, yes, facilities are available. I took the package through Himalayan wonders (69k, excluding airfare both ways of course). I was always wearing 3 layers at night, so a sleeping bag was not needed. But Gorakshep was unbearable so I used it there.
@@14doxx thank you for detailed replies. I plan to do without Porter and guide in November. If you have anything to add any tips suggestions please add anytime.
@@ravisampat Sure! And all the best to you! 👏
@@14doxxBoss, please answer following queries also as i am going this week 1. what was the temperature at night time 2. What kind of socks are required will ordinary socks do or wont ? 3. Can we go till Namche bazar without guide or not ?
@@Soliloquy_101 1. Cold obviously! At Gorakshep it went down to -18/-19 if I’m not wrong. But I’m sure you can manage it! 2. I used thermal socks. It manages moisture and holds warmth well, in my opinion. I think cotton socks will do good as well, but I have some sweat issues with them. 3. I think you can go all the way to base camp without a guide. Last year, Nepal announced a ban on solo trekking. But I think Everest Base Camp was an exception in that. Please do research and make sure before you go. And I wish you all the very best! Have fun
Great brother ❤❤❤
Thanks man! Your content is 🔥
Nice experience climbing in Nepal mountain.
Yes it was!
Ebc trekking cost
Hi, around 69k (without airfare)
How much did it cost
Hello Arpit, around 69k
EBC on 1st trek is a very bad idea.
