Honestly, I'll never understand why people seriously think trading cards are a good 'investment.' The prices you see for 1st Edition Sealed Base Sets are just because there are barely any left. When the Base Set came out, no one even knew if the game had a future. There were hardly any collectors, and even if there were, they definitely didn’t keep the products sealed. Nowadays, new sets get bought up and kept sealed, but since every random 'investor' does this, the market is completely different! The trading card market is pure luck, dependent on brand stability and the manufacturer's financial policies, so you just can’t really calculate it. And even the bigger TCG dealers aren’t swimming in money. The profit margins in the mid/long term are barely there. People who don’t have any emotional connection to these cards should just stick to the cold, hard stock market and stop snatching up cards so kids don’t even have a chance to get them anymore 😅 No hate on you! I just think Trading Card Games should be used as they are supposed to: Collecting, Trading and Playing. No investing.

Im doing this set with my lad atm. The only reason us i am also doing the 151 set and we all know its near impossible to get in the uk ao we just needed to do something.

I am collecting japanese 151 master set and this is very expensive considering there is masterball for every pokemon and you can pull 1 master ball per booster box, no way to pull all from boxes so buying singles is the way, still very expensive, but i love them.

I'm a pseudo master set collector. Back in the day it used to be fun and rewarding. Now sets are pushing 300 cards and a new one every month or so. No possible way to keep up. I like all the cards and don't want to be one of those guys that just pulls out the ultra rares and burns the bulk

Say this to utubers who give 383872 thousands for cards and then have the audacity to say: you cannot collect all of them. 90 % of dudes who watches pkmn openings bla bla do you know what they think? WHY i cannot give 27277272 thousands as well, am I poor? This gradually creates panic n low self esteem. And LIKE 2 PAC had said: it doesn't make sense if someone has 32 millions and someone else doesn't even have a house to live.

I only collect the big rare hits I really like. I have almost every Alt Art from SWSH as well and hoping to complete it this year now that prices are down. Same for SM alt and secret tag teams. Working on SIRs and IRs I like. Finally found a magicarp IR in great condition at my LGS yesterday and have it in my display case next to my Giratina V alt. I used to rip a lot, it was expensive and a lot of fun but had so much bulk, bulk Vs, hyper and secret rares I didn’t care for so I sold or got trade value at shows. Slowly working on 1st edition WOTC Neo holos as my long term goal.

Sometimes I feel I’m not collecting enough and get FOMO. End up spending 400/ month on cards. What a refreshing video, thanks for your thoughts on this.

doubting it would be good to invest on stellar crown, the pull rates are too good making the singles cheaper than other sets.

It’s a nice set but you can get the singles you want for very cheap. Leave the war chest for a future tag-team, team rocket and maybe gen 2 focus.

You could have put 5,000 pound Ito Japanese 151 reprint at 50 a box by end of December or say febuary there be going for 100 a box can garentie fouble your money in five mounths 😂
