Some hyperbolic surfaces I made over the last 10+ years. If you are wondering about how to make one, there is a link to a description below.

hyperbolic surface crocheted along a metal ring, illuminated with fairy lights
Como vc consegue manter as bordas rígidas, arqueadas sem cair com o peso da linha?
that is a good question. If you just crochet singles around thin plastic wire, the surface will keep its shape. If the surface is too large, then thin plastic wire will not be strong enough. You have to increase the diameter of the plastic wire. Hope this helps.
Hi! Pattern for this?
start with a cylindrical oval tube. Then crochet hyperbolically the around it. The only challenge is the turnaround at the top and bottom, But for that you can just go once around the cylindrical tube.
Como chegar nesse resultado? É uma peça única ou uma junção de peças? Qual a estrutura pra sustentação do fio?? Muito lindo!!! Fantástico? Parabéns!!!
Thanks! Here is how to make a surface: people.math.wisc.edu/~gemeyer/airsculpt/How-to-make-a-hyperbolic-disc-and-a-triangle.pdf
How can I do this? Can you somehow provide the step by step
for a how to, see here people.math.wisc.edu/~gemeyer/airsculpt/How-to-make-a-hyperbolic-disc-and-a-triangle.pdf
wooow! do you have tutorial or a pattern?
hi, thanks for your interest. Have a look here: people.math.wisc.edu/~gemeyer/airsculpt/How-to-make-a-hyperbolic-disc-and-a-triangle.pdf
Wow! Looks stunning! Could you share a pattern or a tutorial?
email me and I can send you a recipe
Sure, what's your email?

@@gabrielemeyerHi, is there any chance you could share a pattern with me as well? It looks amazing
@@JenniferLiang-vz2cq Hi, this is really a hyperbolic disc and I put a link to a pdf with a recipe for such a surface at the top of this RUclips channel. Hope this helps. Direct link: people.math.wisc.edu/~gemeyer/airsculpt/How-to-make-a-hyperbolic-disc-and-a-triangle.pdf
Do you sell or have an Etsy page?
I did once with no interest, so I stopped. Maybe email me.
Okay this is really cool, but imagine if you made it with a color gradient, giving it an awesome ombre effect!
I did a lot of color stuff initially, 14 years ago. But colors can distract from the shape and crochet doesn't allow for fine gradations. I just like to play with light and dark, so I use white yarn. But that's just my feeling.
Amazing work! 🙏🏼🥹😍
Thank you!
I’m so in love with your work! So so so inspiring! 😍😍😍
Thank you!
WOW!!!!! Beautiful! Take a Bow Sir!!!
Thank you, Menakshi

Your work is amazing. May I ask what your increase ratio is?
Thanks! For singles: one extra stitch every 8 or so stitches for double plus chain combination: put the 4th double into stitch number 7 (not number 8) My crocheting is very tight, you may need extra stitches more frequently. Adjust the tension around the plastic wire every few stitches.
@@gabrielemeyer Thank you so much for the swift reply and for the tip. Is the plastic wire used for every row?
@@VideocriticLux1 Yes, Austin, for every row of singles. But not for the rows with double + chain stitch or triple + chain stitch combinations. That's because you would see the plastic wire there.
Your work is stunning! Came here from your "www.math.wisc.edu/~meyer/airsculpt/hyperbolic2.html" page. Any tips on where I could find patterns or video tutorials for these? Thank you again for the eye candy. Be well.
