CJ! Love what you’re doing here, love your vulnerability, love your desire for self-improvement and growth. I understand a lot of what you’re saying about telling the truth, and I do agree with it to an extent, but I think it opens up an opportunity for further conversation. For example, a lot of the time when you were talking about telling the truth, some of the examples used I was thinking, that isn’t necessarily a Truth with a capital T as it is more of an opinion or thoughts and feelings. While I agree it is important to tell the truth, even if it is just the truth as you experience it, I think it’s also important to remember that in most things what’s true for me might not be true for somebody else. I also think that we don’t necessarily have to share the truth “just because,” if doing so will cause pain with no benefit in return. So while I agree to an extent that we often care too much about what other people think and worry too much about other people’s feelings at the expense of our own, I don’t think we should swing too far in the other direction and just not care about that at all. I doubt you’re thinking that, because of course Jesus cares about people’s feelings. But I think that it’s important to consider, “If I tell this truth what is to be gained from that and is it worth the potential pain it might cause.” All things I think are important to consider when determining what to say and what not to.

That took guts CJ! Telling the truth is hard but the truth will get you more respect then any lie or secret ever will.
