The food market "Lau Pa Sat" literally meant Old Market translated from Chinese dialect Hokkien. Singapore's hotel is not exactly cheap but there are smaller, basic accommodation ~$150+ range outside of CBD or Orchard Road areas or a few subway (MRT) stations away from central Singapore. Food & transport is affordable if you go for food courts at shopping malls.

My travel experiences in overseas of unfamiliar countries, usual tried their local visits food and where most locals queues . At same time, speak with the people and know more - best informations than own research alone. Especially English language is easy to communicate with . Thank you for all your good comments of Singapore ‐ drinking tap water, clean country . Try our heartland shops walk about and Green Corridor Nature walks too. Eat our local Singapore food not the foreign food like the China operated Buns. There are local buns which have thinner flour wraps and more choices like TimSum. Drinking while walking are fine only not to drink in public transport like Mrt & Mrt stations & buses. Do trash your litters in our trash bins.

Those look like Shandong buns, which consist of a lot more dough proportions than the local buns, as well most of the other menu items, tons of dough!
The dough to filling ratio was definitely off 😅 still yummy though!

These mainly are people thinking that Singapore are so bloody strict and signs of fine every way you go and get canned if you are caught. Well if everyone got fine and canned mainly the whole world of people are simply barbaric and have zero common sense. Singapore have so many signs informed those uncivilized people do behave properly in Singapore. Things that most do not do but some idiots will. Those are the people need to be careful.

We actually do have our International Drivers license to be on the road we left it at the hostel unknowingly. It was definitely a lesson learnt and definitely made sure we carry them at all times now.

That is a typical scam without the receipt. You need a motorcycle license and an international driving permit. Car only license does not cut it anymore…

It is 1000 thb even at the station. It has risen dramatically in the past few years.
We though that paying 100THB was better than the potential alternative so I guess it’s just a lesson learnt 😢

If you drive but don't have a driver's license Will be fined not more than 1,000 baht or imprisoned for 1 month or both. As stated in the Automobile Act, B.E. 2522, Section 64, which means “Whoever drives a vehicle without obtaining a driver's license Must be punished with imprisonment not exceeding 1 month or a fine not exceeding 1,000 baht, or both.”
You can walk and drink anywhere you want. Just not at public transport. Unless you are drinking plain water then you are allowed to at bus and train.

Only plain water on public transport, sugar drinks or carbonated beverages are no no.
Been told before not to drink water at an mrt station so hydrate first before tapping into the station.

18:16 Cjae is correct. You're in Chinatown. Chinatown encompassed where you stayed, The SeaCare Hotel all the way to the edge of CBD before hitting Lau Pa Sat, Hong Lim Park to the other end, ending at Outram NEL MRT. There's a park opposite your hotel that has a very old secluded reservoir. Central Perk, the Friends' theme cafe was next to Holiday Inn before they closed down. Also if you double back from your hotel, there is a hawker center behind the hotel. And if you go beyond, there is a overhead bridge to go to Robertson Quay where expats like to hang out. Also if you go down the stairs to the bus stop. you could take Bus no 123 all the way to Sentosa Island straight. And nearby the area, you may find the tomb of Singapore's famous philanthropist, Tan Tock Seng as well, but that's another story. Also at 2:12 there's a small street you can cut through to go to the main area of Chinatown without circling the outer road, passing by the Childcare centre and if you go through it, you'll end up at a low cost supermarket.
