@14:44 Just to clarify, the round patches you point out are not the "through-hull openings," the testing and repair of which is one of the three major goals of the drydock period. These round holes/patches are the from when the ship was converted from using bunker-c fuel to marine distillate (a cousin of diesel fuel) as part of the '80s recommissioning. The holes were cut anywhere there was an existing fuel tank that needed to be cleaned out. The holes were needed to provide access for heavy duty steam cleaning equipment to blast out the sludge accumulated in the tanks. Worker access to the tanks was not thru the hole, worker access was from inside the ship.
