Fabulous. However, still low tech. Nothing is new here. Same old tech we had decades ago, just newer. We still burn carbon fuels when we need nuclear technology like we have in military. We must stop using carbon and move to clean fuels. I just left a major cruise in Europe where they had to clean the diesel stacks, while we were onboard. Filthy fly ash shit was everywhere and ruined my clothes. Cruise had to pay. We need to stop.

All of this tremendous work is just to give a propeller to spin. Unbelievable!

It was great tour, while same time I admire the designers and precise workmanship. I wish I would have similar skills!

I loved my brief spell on a container ship, loved the space and technology, some years ago now but it was a great feeling as a young man to be in charge of something like this

There is NO SUCH thing as a 24.360 T.E.U. container-ship. A 5,000 T.E.U. is about a 1,000 foot ship 140 feet wide, 22 stories from keel to antenna tops.

It is job of a chief engineer to know the systems and the functionality. He must know how to repair them at sea. It takes a lot of machinery for a ship to function properly. The engine room are immaculate. Everything has its place. Great video.

Chief Engineers come and go as I understand it. It must be a huge job for them to get used to a new engine room and all the equipment.

Engine air filters have never been changed. They are completely black, except for the edges.

It always fascinates me how clean the floors are on these ships - its almost an apology for the pollution they cause.

Grew up with Star Trek and 007 movies. EVERYONE knows these decks should be a hum of uniformed crew, clipboards, checking things, activity, carrying paper cups of coffee, and more flashing light beacons.

You're way off on your numbers that's nowhere even close to the largest container ship. The largest ships hold about 30,000 20 footers and up

Amazing, Best engine room tour ever!

Like a giant ghost ship and its hard to believe that in 30 years it will all be scrapped or recycled..

I remember the first Time on a "big" Cruise Ship .. on the Meyer Shipyard/Germany around 1990 it was Huuuge same to the Engine Rooms .. But this Thing is a other League it's a small City !!
