Welcome to my outdoor haven, where passion meets adventure, and every moment is an opportunity to embrace the beauty of nature. I'm a true lover of the great outdoors, having grown up amidst the picturesque countryside of rural Indiana, cherishing the landscapes around small towns. After college, destiny led me to a thrilling seven-year journey with a professional IndyCar team before fate beckoned me to the wondrous lands of Arizona. Since then, I've been captivated by Arizona's stunning vistas and the endless possibilities it offers for outdoor exploration. For those who are looking outdoor fun and adventure I hope this channel provides entertainment while offering a look into Arizona and all it has to offer. I'm on a mission to go from full-time office to full-time ADVENTURE. Let's roll.

Very nice! I'm in that area pretty often but never made it to the lake. perhaps soon!
@@MonahanOutdoors Great place for sure! I was out there again this weekend. Stay tuned for my next video. Appreciate you watching.
Appreciate the support as always! Thank you for watching.
Another great video Chris!! Your videos are excellent, your use of drone footage, camera angles, video editing, all very professional!! Very enjoyable to watch!! Your website is also outstanding! Did you create that yourself on squarespace? I also appreciate your Instagram posts. Keep up the great work!!
Alot of cholla cactus there. Nasty stuff.
@@NativeArizonan Plenty for sure! Appreciate you watching! Thank you!
Oh man! Thanks again for your vids on this place. Finally got out there to your exact spot over 3 days including New Year's day. All went well except the drive home through Phoenix when my single axle trailer blew a tire with my sxs on it and it took out the fender but got home safe. Out there we saw 2 groups of burros. Did Maggie's Slot, McGuffy's Cabin, Palmerita Ranch, Mud Cliffs and left Swansea off the itinerary. Did a couple hours fishing. All in all a wonderful place and we honestly would have never heard about it let alone gone there if it weren't for this exact video and your follow up. Thank you much.
And yes, we actually got our low clearance trailer with sxs on it to your spot. Only lightly dragged one area. First hit the wrong spot, though nice, just northeast of your spot. Saw the part where you needed momentum to get up the climb and we just doubled back and took the easier route to your spot. Great spot.
@@Bizill75 Wow! Sounds like an amazing trip! You packed it full. Glad you enjoyed it out there and thanks for letting me know. Bummer on the flat though. Happy New Year!
We even hit the Wayside Oasis on the way out. Good eats and good bloody Mary. 3 planes took off from the runway. Place was packed. SXS haven. LOTS of trails throughout the entire area. Diesel heater worked a treat in the RTT.

Love camping in AZ! I enjoy my even in meals and try to cook something that doesn’t take too long to prep at camp. I haven't been out to Alamo in about 20 years. Has cell reception improved (Verizon)? Used to be nothing lol. Anyway, great video and glad you got the chance to get out there. Camping by the water in the desert is really something to experience (oxymoron only us desert dwellers would understand). I wish you well in your personal endeavor to get out of the office! We're in our 50's and almost there ourselves. The calculator says "Close, just not quite yet..." lol. Oh, and before the week gets away from me, let me wish you and yours, and all of your subscribers and viewers a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! We're hosting supper for 15 this year! Lots to be thankful for this year. Cheers! Pete in Arizona - KI7LIL & WRXY843
You should get out there again soon. Cell service wasn't bad and I have Verizon. Few areas it goes away though depending where you are at. Thanks for watching as always! Sounds like you will have a big meal prep going on this week at your home. Enjoy Thanksgiving and we will do the same! Thanks, Pete!
This trip to Alamo lake is a good start to get me interested. I've driven by the turn off to the lake through Salome several times every year going to my sisters place in California from Paulden. Hopefully I'll get to see it for myself soon.
Nice lake in my opinion. Several trails lead into it from both sides. Anytime you can camp or drive around water is good by me. Appreciate you watching! Thank you.

Where exactly did you stay and which way did you come in from? I'm in Tucson and need a maiden voyage in our overlanding setup Gladiator. Alamo lake may just be the ticket! Great vid.
@@Bizill75 Came in on Old Alamo Road from Eastside. Takes you straight to lake. Numerous places to camp. Just see what looks best to you. Travel North along Lake and numerous fingers or peninsula’s you can camp on. View it from the air and you will see what I mean. Have fun! Thanks for watching!
@@explore_x_ I'd have to come from the Phoenix side of things. I see that way you're met with paid camping sites and I'm not sure if you can get to the north side of things, but I haven't looked. Many spots on the upper southeast side but not sure where you're allowed to dry camp for free vs not or trespass vs not... I'm all about the sxs life but just getting into overlanding. LOTS to learn...
@ Just before the public camping area turn right on Browns Xing Rd. Take that about 1.5 miles then turn left to trail that will take you to the lake area. That is how I go in. You can follow some of those trails and takes you to those fingers. Going in off main road probably works just fine too.

Can you share what electric heater you use and the power setup for it? Thanks!
The heater does well to take the chill out of the air on very cold nights. Though, it will not shut off and on as I hoped with a thermostat. Would need a larger heater. Here is link for the heater I tried to test. www.amazon.com/dp/B07573FKSG?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1. I have a 100 amp hour house battery I use for all my power needs. Generally, the electric blanket with good sleeping bag is more than plenty. Heater goal was to take chill out of the air for those early mornings or when my family is with me. Hope this helps!
@@explore_x_ thank you! Was interesting in the portable size. I’m running a 68amp house battery and a 20amp portable station, so I’ve been looking for something to extend my camping too late fall/early spring! Thank you

kadadu is the way to go. Not to mention I have used the kakadu at 11500 feet in Utah and Colorado with no issues. That camplux or eccotemp gas water heater will not work that high in elevation so something to consider. And the kakadu is more compact and easier to use
