I did Marcy in 2014 and October 25th this year I got Redfield Gray Peak Skylight and Haystack all together during a 21 hour hike from the Calamity Brook Trail to John Brooks Lodge

March 2021 my son and I were looking at the black skies pouring into the High Peaks from Porter, my son's 8th winter 46er. The black skies were bringing 18 inches of snow and we were in a hurry to get off Porter and safely home. I don't know why that doctor/ice climber decided to leave his belongings at the lean-to and solo the Trap Dyke. So sad...

Enjoyed this! Hoping third time is the charm, as I've had to cancel my first two AMR reservations due to weather this summer, to finally do this hike (minus Sawteeth) next week. Slabby/rocky climbs can make me nervous, so I'm reassured by your "fun but not dangerous" assessment of Pyramid! And I identify with Mark's favorite part; I've been hiking with a rotisserie chicken sub of late and it's always a highlight of my trip. Big fan of a summit sandwich!

I hiked Big Slide via the Brothers in torrential rain and was rewarded with zero views. This video (with views, haha) may have convinced me to hike it again in better weather!

HAYSTACK was my Winter finish this past March and even with micro spikes, Crampons and Snowshoes HAYSTACK and Little Haystack are tricky and very icy. . . . .and as we all know the Mountains will always be there for our subsequent return. Had a similar experience going up COLDEN last Fall when suddenly encountering lots of ice with no micro spikes and forced to turn around, never easy but often necessary.

Shoulder season is long in the high peaks. At least you had a good hike and lived to do it another day. Thanks for the video!
