Просмотров 322Месяц назад
Had a chat with John from The Troubles Archive today. We had a fairly broad chat, first delving into his most recent episode about the INLA feud with the IPLO. We then went into a Questions and Answers section where we tackled some questions put to us by our listeners. You can see John's page here: thetroublesarchive Here's the book John mentioned: Explaining Northern Ireland: Br...

It was a sunny morning in Hyde Park in London. On this morning in Hyde Park, the Household Cavalry were taking part in a changing of the guard ceremony. As they passed by a parked car, a nail bomb that was hidden in the trunk of the car was detonated. The bomb was made up of 11 kilograms of gelignite and 14 kilograms of nails which turned into deadly shrapnel upon detonation causing a scene of ...

01: The Assassination of Lord Louis Mountbatten
The book wascwritten by martin dillon not Mark dillon. Just for the record and is well worth a read. By the way does anyone else think that William ( billy) moore may have been more responsible than given credit for given that he was there and played a leading part in every so called cut throat murder including the ones when murphy was in jail?
Bet she looked under the lid everytime she went for a 'sit down' after that.....
The Troubles Archive sounds like he’s not been growing up far from the river Mersey, love it! Greetings from Germany

Interesting, it’s history we should know about the songs don’t tell all the story and the ugliness behind it.
The RSM history has been deliberately ignored by media for example Peter Taylor and I believe by the Provisional movement . As a Republican Socialist who fought in the conflict I was subsequently captured and jailed for 25 Yrs my contribution my struggle was belittled by certain quarters of the provisional movement , media and the Provisional political leadership gave no credit to RSM VOLUNTEERS . Not all but a lot in leadership and political leadership . A lot is made of fueding even by you and your contributor. The Provos feuded twice also and as many people combatant and innocent where killed it was just ours was more recent . Our men were on the blanket no wash protest died on hunger strike and hurt the enemy as much as we could we also served hundreds of years in gaol . My trial was infront of a diplock court like my provisional comrades . My enemies where the same people. So it’s not by accident that this black propaganda has always been orchestrated to demonise the RSM as some crazy band of rabble undisciplined and ignorant to logic or ideal .
Would love to hear your perspective on it. Only so much John and I can talk about it, never having lived through it. Shoot me a message troublespodcast@gmail.com if you'd be up for a chat
Excellent discussion lads!!

Very sad and wrong but if the Quinn brothers weren't murdered by UVF loyalists then this would never have occurred! Blood is on their hands
His two brothers were his eyes and ears. William and John. In the book they are refered to as MrA and Mr B. The full story isn't told untill these two men are mentioned. John (MrB) died in a car accident in 1997. MrA (William) is still alive (as far as I know). The only other prominent butcher still alive is Sam McAllister.
Yup he's still alive. His son was jailed for killing a pensioner.
@@damien1351 indeed. Murdered his neighbor in Battenburg St, an old War hero called Spence. For a few quid also. I walk up the Shankill all the time and have many friends live there. I see Edward McIlwayne all the time. He was involved in the abduction and torture of Gerard McLaverty. He is always standing outside the Mountainview Bar. I think he has a large tumor in his belly.
Well deserved. People will listen to these in decades to come so I wouldn't be over concerned about views right now..
The Shankill Road is an eerie place 🇬🇧
