Around 1956 some friends and I found a tunnel entrance that had been forgotten about. We wandered up through the cliffs following what today has been opened up as a display of WW2 tunnels. Looking back I suppose it was risky as we were only around 12 and didn't have any torches. I blabbed to mum and she contacted the authorities who promptly bricked up the entrance in the bay.

Beautiful beach! I visited the Cliffs of Dover yesterday and the views were absolutely stunning! I wanted to visited St Margaret's Bay but didn't have enough time! Will definitely visit again next month! :)
You should come and visit this place next time, such a picturesque place.

Really! Wow! It is such a nice place, but I am sure they will let you visit if you want to.
@@glendexploringuk yeah my distant grandpa was John kempe he was a cardinal. He purchased it from the digges family along with 5-6 other manors. What a time to be alive in the 1500s and owning these properties. His great grandson built olantigh castle. We had it for 200 years but it was in a fire and was sold and restored over the years. I have been to olantigh in 2018.
@@glendexploringukthe current owners of olantigh castle in wye were very nice people. They had original documentation of my ancestors building the castle which blew me away. We stayed there for a few nights. It was incredible. The reality is we had the kempe baroness for 400 years. It's just so crazy to go someplace and walk around knowing that you're distant grandfather was a cardinal and build a castle and owned many others during the period. Fast forward 520 years and these places are still in operation is bonkers
