Immerse yourself into the archeology’s findings and what they tel...
Support Houston’s Ecosystem with Backyard Wildscapes, by Mary Pearl Meuth
Просмотров 6262 года назад
As we see continued urbanization and fragmentation in Texas, the biggest impacts from natural resource management may not come from large acre properties or preserved swaths of wildlands, but rather, from smaller tracts with a very specific focus on local resources. Small acreage properties and backyard wildscaping has renewed interest across the changing landscapes of Texans and counties. Join...

Tips for Photographing Native Plants and Wildlife with Your Phone, by Lauren Simpson
You should go to my property. It has a lot of these mushrooms. Even the one that you only saw once and can't find it anymore. Security Texas
Howvabout a list of all the plants he says under appropriate heading...
Mushrooms are not uniquely dangerous in terms of toxicity. If you went around eating random plants without knowing the species, you would be at least as likely to get in trouble. More, depending on where you are.
The prairie ecosystem needs ruminant animals. This a landscape project, not a restoration.
Just got rid of wood pile and brick pile. and the dead cilantro. Was cleaning because last year we lost our sod, all the back yard. to the chinch bug. I figured it was in all the covers and came out in full force. But no biggie for me, I will recreate it. Just too bad for all the little critters that were in there.
I don't have alot of shade either.
Thank you
NativePlantHOU, This is amazing! I subscribed right away!
Sad I missed last night thanks for sharing
How pathetic!! I came to , I hoped, get some information on doing gardening using native plants and received a discusting diatribe on about half a dozen post modernist enviro-nazi very debatable talking points. I just have to remind myself that when I hear this drible, that correlation doesn't necessarily mean causeation.😂

I wish you would focused on the slides much more. The presenter is a hansome fellow but the slides have much more to comunicate. A sugested time split maybe 95 percent on the slides and 5 on the presenter
Excellent video I really want to keep an eye on their work now!
Mary I love what you've done that I couldn't. It would be amazing to talk with you about these things. May I see your gardens?
What does “inner cities and racism” have to do with native plants? Next time act like a professional and keep your political agenda to yourself. The speaker highly discredited herself when she spoke on this. Stay focused on the topic of native plants and keep your agenda out of the presentation.
Thank you for posting. Very interesting. I live in San Antonio and just planted a Vitis Monticola to grow on a pergola. It’s doing very good so far. I have heavy clay soil. I have a pecan tree near so I will monitor if it grows on it!
No audio for about the first 20 minutes of the video
That was all before the meeting started and we have since edited it out. Thank you.

very nice info. thank you
Edible means "fit to be eaten". Plenty of mushrooms can't be eaten due to texture. Most lethal mushrooms have a delayed onset and could be eaten a few times before you die. That old saying is a really bad joke, is dangerous and honestly just lame.
I noticed that the Foraging book lists edible plants but not their benefits like you provided in this presentation. Is there a benefits list you have created via the studies website you mentioned or otherwise for each of the plants in your book?
Enjoyed and found it very encouraging to a beginner.
I want to and I have an acre. But don’t want to spend all those money
You should give plants for free people who are willing to grow native plants and support wild life
The Williamson county chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas gave away free bluebonnet plants during spring. So I bet there are occasions where they do give away plants for free. Also people will likely give and share cuttings/propogations and seeds.
Where can I buy these native plants for cheap. Nurseries have them very expensive
I recommend growing them from seed/cutting, it might take a while but its fun watching them grow. Praire moon nursery has a lot to chose from
It is so refreshing to find these kind of videos on RUclips. A real expert talking about complex scientific findings in a way that is accessible to non experts. Thank you for posting this.
Halfway through... any updates since this presentation?

this is a super interesting talk. i've never learned about the native people of this area before
What a wonderful topic !
We're naish
❤ this, im just getting into this now, thank you for sharing, watching from canada🇨🇦👊
Amazing. Thank you for posting. I am a home gardener in San Antonio slowly seeding/planting native plants in my garden. Although it isn’t large scale, this gives me ideas and inspiration.
How is your native garden doing?
@@utubepunk I’ve added a few more natives to the yard, and sowed some seeds now in the fall.
💚
This is fantastic
I immediately bought cyanotype fluids when I saw that section. you warned us!
This is wonderful! I finally was able to watch it all the way through! I will definitely watch through again for more detailed notes. I am planning a native plant garden in our front yard and this is so helpful. Thank you!
I started using iNaturalist 6 months ago. I love it.
I very much enjoyed this video. I look forward to incorporating some of this plants to my garden.
Watching y’all spray that herbicide was painful. Love the rest of the video though
I live in San Antonio and would like to apply some of these concepts to my garden. Right now I’m working on getting rid of Bermuda grass. I would love to find somewhere near me that has native blank land prairie grasses so I could use in my garden.
Native American Seed have native grass and forb seeds for sale. Grass seed is especially easy to germinate and grow in containers for later planting in the garden. Outside pride have forb seeds that often germinate readily. Both nurseries are worth checking out.
Excellent presentation, thank you.
When is your next sale?
I have Amanita westii for the last 2 months between cleveland and big thicket Texas
Thanks to the name above ⬆️ ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ I got mine from them they sell Mushrooms also ,,,,,,
there is an indigenous saying "We don't inherit land. We borrow it from our progeny." I wish the developers thought of it that way.
Really appreciated this presentation! Love to see restoration work like this.
Even though I live in The Hill Country a bit near Austin, I subscribed anyway. Good info!
I enjoyed this very much! Thank You for sharing. ♡
at 37:21, the one on the left, dark brown velvety looking, are they edible?
Every mushroom is edible once.
Thanks to the name above ⬆️ ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ I got mine from them they sell Mushrooms also ,,,,,,
No, edible means fit to be eaten.
