The body shape is really cute. I love its bright cherry tone.
You need to tune 1 string to A and the other to D.

@@Gnomewoodworker thank you!
Can a 72 inch (6 foot tall) Tagelharpa be made with a deep box?
Are you asking me to build one? I have seen large Talharpas made and played on youtube. The shipping would be a lot at 6ft though.
Whoops! Sorry ! 4 videos, 4 not 3 😅
Thank you for making these 3 videos! This is the most comprehensive videos ive seen on the Kantele. Very good work !
Beautiful work
Oh my Dog
That dog is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!
🤙
It's pronounced CON-teh-leh, not can-TEL-y. Except for the outline, this is nothing like the construction of a traditional kantele; you've basically got a plank with some strings attached. With a soundboard that thick, it's hard to believe you would get any resonance at all.
Thank you for the correction on the correct way to say its name, I was surely not saying it right in this video. The traditional build still has what you call a plank ( Not really a soundbaord) on top with a wooden frame underneath the top. Master luthier Michael J King builds his $1000 Kantleles with a so called plank on top and wooden frame underneath as well. The wood I use has a very good resonance tone, and they sound just fine. The Kantele sound demo I have on this channel shows just how loud they are so, maybe its not that hard to believe after all :)- lol, peace and love brother
I think that's a Germanic lyre since it has six strings
Anglo saxon is germanic
Ethnicity yes, but not the instrument @@japanfanatic1415
Love your work I was able to shred yours better than 600$ fancy shmanshy ones simple is better the the seals
You have a great way you seal the seal the wood and it courses they vibrate like no other one of the louder ones I have got I have it a to a Norwegian kid who know nothing about his heritage and he was so happy
Hey it Fjolnir how are you my bror? Could you make me like ten to 15 pegs like those ones I’ll pay once you put the listing up
Great build.
Where did you get the plans from to build this please?
very nice
This seems like a lifetime ago when I just started making instruments.. Thanks :)
@@Gnomewoodworker I am just trying to start
What kind of wood did you use?
It's pronounced kan-teh-leh
You speak as you read, there is no letter h in word kantele, anyways, who cares, he said it perfectly
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I was having an existential crisis because my lyre refuses to stay in tune even for a few minutes without playing.
It's pronounced kan-teh-leh
Thanks for the clarification
nice work!
Sounds neat! Which gauge did you use for the strings?
D .016 E .016 F# .016 G .014 A .014
That's cool af
listen to the sound of my children's Rebec made from logs ruclips.net/video/ILqtmvpWrZA/видео.htmlsi=pRNjPZA18xhA0aAW
Thats awesome. Good job man.
what are the dimensions? i’m looking to make one
This channel is awesome! I play quite a few instruments, but i want to play more. Especially older instruments. The problem is, they are so expensive, especially where i am from. I have been wanting to start making my own instruments for a while, as i love wood working, but i suppose I am a little afraid of failure. But your channel has inspired me to finally gonfor it. Thank you!
It sounds really nice
Beautiful!
Sounds nice. Thanks for sharing.
You lyre looks fantastic. Thanks for showing your steps. A lot of work! Great job!
Thank You :)
I recall reading in my router safety manual something to the effect of ”do not operate near genitalia” :) Nice work, I appreciate you sharing
I just started building my first lyre yesterday. I found this video today. My lyre is literally the same as this one. It is 8 inches across, 2 inches deep. Only 3 inches longer. And i even built it the same way. I never saw anyone build it this way until now.
I also built my lyre recently.
these are so great, thank for making these videos! i'm going to have to make one at some point!
😕 P r o m o s m
And whats your point? The channel is connect to my Etsy shop and I show off the instruments I make. Do I promote my instruments? yes. I hope your having a wonderful day and happy, life is short.
