Yea, sounds like people are getting ones that don't work. What issues are you dealing with, cycling or stuck casings? I consider myself very lucky mine have been working flawlessly over the last 1000 rounds. I'm up to 3k on my 16" and 2k out of the 20".

And the Reminton 25 has strong little action. Reloaded it becomes so much more. 60 gr Hornaday flat nose at 2,500 is an easy task. Lil Gun powder is just so right for this, the Hornet and the 218 Bee. As teens we would remove half the lead from those 60gr bullets then tamp in as much flash powder salvaged from firecrackers as we could and then an inverted small rifle primer business end down. The bullet seating die had just enough crimp to keep the primer anchored. Of course they can only be shot single loaded. Big flash and bang on steal. They left smoking fist sized holes in those big Sears and Robuck catalogs we would get.

@@publicdefender77 If you enjoy shooting a 25/20 it is almost a necessity these days of new cartridges of the week from Hornaday. We also shoot several 300 H&H magnum M 70's and it is the same story. Even though not many so called 300 magnums will not do what the old 300 H&H can. It takes a mag length actions something youngsters don't want to contend with in the short action craze we are in. Bench rest rifles are the only ones that benefit from that. Old cartridges are loaded to the same spec throughout their lives so point of impact is consistent. Pressure levels with new propellants have dropped leaving room for reloaders to take advantage of that.

The 15 hp has a megaphone shape exhaust tuner the 9.9 hp doesn’t have . Omc spent a lot on getting it right. I race these in 200 cc mod hydro at apba races and leave it stock for longevity and ease to start . 13.2 cubic inch btw . The 25 hp takes a bigger guy to rope it over and will need more gas . I see 55 mph with a 15 using racing lower unit and one girl gets up to 63 mph with a 2 blade SS prop. Power to weight is where it’s at , I use a quart of fuel for 10 minutes of racing. The 15 has low profile which helps turn better than same hp Mercury. Also is easier to fish over . Your old 15 looks to have tired and loose upper shocks . You lose thrust when it wiggles . We make them out of solid aluminum as racers and at boat dealership we put those as new when restoring for resale . Clogged thermostats were common and sputtering telltale sometimes meant head had crumbs of salt or scale . Omc service bulletin had us drill water outlet fittings and then run hose an inch past so no reduction. Low idle sometimes set with handle tip . Setting idle at carb on the 25 hp changes Timing . A 35 hp (same weight) has bigger carb hole / intake and throttle goes to a higher Degree at wide open.

@ You couldn’t do it with a bow with sites . You wouldn’t even be able to see them . He’s lucky he was at an angle. A straight on shot would have went right through his gut or leg . Not an ethical choice to be. How badly do you need that kill to risk an off handed shot. Even with rifles to many people just pop shot into the woods and I’ve seen some that didn’t even bother to go look. Remember this is this guy’s second risky shot. The first one didn’t go well. That would have taught me a lesson. Never again.

Then you can confidently use them as a rest for your cross bow or gun with out the clanging noise i was hearing when you xbow would contact it.
