    Hi! Nice to see you out here in these RV Streets! It looks like we are subscribed to your channel. Maybe we found you through Don and Pegi? Anyway, thank you for this run down. We are in our 4th year as full timers and we’re considering getting one of these as we get closer to retirement. Since we are full time, and we mostly camp in private camp grounds…that 19K is spot on. …soo expensive. You’re’ right, we’d easily pay for a membership in our first year. We plan on continuing to RV full time for who knows how much longer. So much country to see! Our biggest issue and why we’ve never pulled the trigger is we’re not a small set up… we’re 44’ with a 22’ truck. We work full time and we need certainty when we pull into a park. We sure appreciate this info and it gives us something to think about!

    I definitely hope you don't discover the awesome TrailManor camper trailers. They are light (~1800 lbs dry), easy to tow with a V6, and huge inside! It's TM owners like to keep them the object of a cult following. I mean the brand new TMs are so popular that it's hard to keep in stock! @@terrylane1781 we’re very happy with our fat tire bikes. Those 4” tires will handle any and every surface we’ve encountered from pavement to gravel to dirt to mud to sand and we’ve logged over 500 miles on each bike so far and have not had any accidents or incidents. I love that aspect and when we’re exploring, we have no worries about having to stay on the road or the trail, we can go off-road at any time so the versatility that they add really comes in handy. there's a few reasons why e-bikes aren't allowed on trails in Sedona, for one you're in the desert so it's a more delicate environment, it takes about 5 times longer to recover. secondly there alot of slick Rock in Sedona, slick rock is the exposed Red Rock, it's called slick Rock because it was slippery for the horse shoes back in the day, they don't allow e-bikes on slick Rock because it has more torque and can spin the tires going uphill which would be black rubber marks on the rock. however they do have Jeep roads which the Jeeps leave a lot of rubber on the slick Rock so I think if you rode up that on a bike no one would complain, just look out for jeeps

Discouraged that I will have to stay on the streets but glad I know ahead of time! Me and my wife are 59 and looking to retire RVing fulltime at 62 and will retire on our SS/$100k is this life truly doable in your opinion?

    • @WanderOpenRoads
      @WanderOpenRoads 4 месяца назад

      Everybody’s situation is different. To answer your question, yes RV Life is doable as long as you budget and plan properly. Things to plan for: 1) Living expenses- start with as little debt as possible, create a budget, have money set aside for RV upgrades and repairs 2) Campground cost- this can vary widely depending on how you like to camp, where, and for how long. We don’t get military discounts nor do annual/seasonal stays so what has made RVing affordable for us was buying a Thousand Trails membership. We also stay a state parks but on a limited basis. BLM is not really an option in regions we camp. 3) Healthcare- access to nationwide coverage, virtual DR visits, home base state where you have your annual appts 4) Post RV Life plan- you may not want to RV forever or may not be able to due to health. We kept a home for that reason, I realize not everyone is able to do that. (Our dream was to fulltime when we retired. Then the pandemic hit and decided it was better for us to keep the house as a home base and place for post RV Life. We’re more hybrid fulltimers, we travel like fulltimers but still have a sticks and bricks we go part-time. Like I first said, everyone’s situation is different. You have to create a solid plan that works for you.) Sorry for the length of the reply but we were where you are and I would have wanted this kind of info.
