XC90V8RD Turbo First one in History, they say?
Want to thank my kids for believing in me, something that hasn't been done as meaningless as it may seem can be accomplished, I was younger and listen to Ayrton Senna, became involved with cars at a young age and blessed with a career in motorsports, this is a product of a dream or feeling nostalgia over Volvos with Turbos in the mid 80's, my family owned a few.
I plan on making a second video with clips on the dyno and showcasing the diy paddleshift install and sway bar rate adjustment mod which i developed at the track. Stay tune and don't forget to Like Subscribe and/or Comment. Thank you Have a nice day

How many HP is it pushing with turbo?
Ive been scouting the internet for something like this
intake from the ground, without filter ((( turbo works as hoover
Saul goodman left being lawyer and started doing car videos 😅
This is awesome dude great work!
Any update?
Nice!! Finally someone did it! I am so happy for you! I have 2010 s80 v8 with custom headers 3" all the way back with Hilton stage 2 tune. Guess what my next mod will be?!?
Twin turbo it
Very impressive, I have only seen on youtube one B8444s that was aspirated before. An s80 with a supercharger. Quad pipes are definitely more popular in Europe
Yamaha Engine and Volvo Design
I have a Volvo s80 with the same motor. Any way you could help me out with a tune or whatnot.. I’ve seen the video but Ive never done anything like this but I want a turbocharged s80 on low boost. Thank you in advance
this is posible in S80 II v8?
I'd be extremely interested in seeing where you mounted the turbo! I have one of these apart to swap the transmission right now, and there just isn't a lot of room in there for plumbing and a turbo.
Haha. I guess I should have watched the whole video before commenting! Remove the second cats and theres room.
So wait. The only fuel mod was a rising rate FPR?
Hi, are you still racing the BMW F1000 in your other videos? looking at doing something with the BMW myself and looking for people that are successful at it. Cheers
What size is the turbo? Where did you get the gauge cluster? You should do a whole series for a step-by-step tutorial/modification. Kudos to you for doing this!
I second this
sounds healthy man and should still be reliable.
This was a great video. Answered many questions i had about this. I'm thinking of having mine remapped just for a littlw bit more. I picked up a 70k miles 2007 minter here in Ireland. A special import for a billionaire with all the trimmings. We didn't get the v8 here. Great vid. Would love to have seen the build. Subbed.
omg insane
What Else do you have Planned for your XC90?
Amazing Work 👍 First ever #1. I can't wait to see more videos of this Project 🤯 Best Video I've Seen on XC90.
Where do I message you privately because I have a few questions
I'm literally trying to do this to my s80v8 but I'm trying to put it in my trunk where the spare tire goes lmao
no way this on stock trans ?
100% can be on a stock TF80, you're just gonna want to not be doing launches from a dig and definitely let it warm up before beating on it
I thought the gearbox was only good for 350 so not sure how long this will hold on. This dude doesn't upload much. Shame.
And they said it couldn't be done! Impressive work Sir👏🏻
WOWWWW WHAT A BUILD !! ANY UPDATES ?
wooow ❤❤❤
Nice work. I have a xc90 v8 lowered, I've often pondered putting a 2wd rear suspention assembly in mine, having the drive shaft outta the way would make lots of extra room.
Also, FUCKING SUBSCRIBED. This is SimplyVolvo tier madness and I can't wait to see more!
whoa whoa whoa XC90 V8 TURBO Am I dreaming?
Hopefully Soon it Will be a Trackhawk Competitor 👍
@@MB1Billion You can only hope. The transmission is junk and the engine needs a lower comp. ration to run boosted
@hexagonosaurus5848 Very True and you are very Knowledgeable but how can we Solve the Transmission Problem?
Superb build, congratulations on successfully adding a turbo to B8444S engine, looks very clean ! Also the facelift final version of 2010 XC90 V8s with R Design trim came with 4 exhaust tips.
Wow!! I thing you may genuinely be the first person to turbo a B8444s (except noble of course lol). I would definitely look into doing some transmission upgrades next as I don’t see it lasting very long with all that torque. I believe its only rated for 340lb-ft and the stock v8 makes around 325. SICK build though keep it up!!
You can add a accumulator to the trans and port the passages and squeeze about 460tq through with a aftermarket trans controller.
This is amazing can you give details how we can give our own little boost we in our Japanese build v8s?
Amazing work! fun to see/hear the boost build up with the B8444S. I feel like a pro-charger could make life easier in such a swap. Definitely something I'll be looking at in the near future. Hyped to see more videos about this.
Thank you , XCT still going very strong. I'll have another video on the final exhaust and how to adjust factory sway bars for less body roll very soon. I never thought of a supercharger because it would be a parasitic loss, the turbo on this NA engine allows for having 100% efficiency without going into boost at 20% throttle, the turbo makes up efficiency under boost where the supercharger would create a deficit. Does that make sense.
With the engine bay as tight as it is, with the transverse mounted engine, and with the location of the belts and pulleys on these B8444S engines, my guess is that a procharger would probably require more work.
Comp has an oiless air cooled turbo btw
Nice!
This is great work buddy..👍💯
Thank you
Amazing my friend. I have a S80 with the same engine and looking to turbo soon. Well done!
I hope you can do it. I would like to see what it looks like under the s80 . P.m me some pictures
@@JRMatGingerman Sure I'll do it! Now I cannot do it since I'm low on budget for that. But soon I'll try!
What about the gearbox?
@@andrewnevermind4902 Great question. I believe low pressure in the turbo would not harm the trans....but when I make mine, prolly swapping trans before turboing since AISIN are not trustable for that.
Is it possible to do this on s80 v8?
Yes, they have the same fittment so possibly.
Would be a little harder since theres even less space under the hood than the 90, but I dont see what would make it impossible
@@fatyogurt8444 You can adapt switching the battery, which is a huge battery and occupy a large chunck of space and than installing at the trunk. OF COURSE not a HUMONGOUS turbo size. Than working on a beautifull manifold. OR Rear mount turbo(Same as they do on 350z/370z); which cars with few space in the trunk do. XC90 they have more since SUV is spacious and tall from the ground but the S80 is nor a small/medium car. AT LEAST, that what I think when analyzing possibilities.
@@oscaralo09 True I did just realize that the battery could be moved. I noticed it was back in the front on my S80v8 after having an Xc90 v8. Maybe if I get my money up I can be the first to build a turbo S80 V8 haha. Just a distant dream for me at the moment
@@fatyogurt8444 NP my Volvo friend. I'm on the same exact boat with you...one day for sure I will do.
Very nice seeing this, was considering getting my dad a XC90 and obviously he’s not gonna boost it but damn that’s sick to see a mid mount turbo SUV. Had a rear mount turbo Z.
Thank you. The car drives really good and it uses its NA power efficiently without going into boost all the time. I drive it everyday.
Where is the PM address?
Coach@gingermanraceway.com. thank you
Hej Man! Brilliant. was wondering HWERE i would put a turbo , had considered an electric powered supercharger for easier fit. Ill ask which turbo you used , looks big and comes in boost late? Thats a good thing although the trans allegedly cuts torque early on anyway. No plans for a tune? RICA and Hilton do them , id suggest if Rob Hilton has cracked the Denso then he could do stuffs to suit a turbo although he is too busy most of time. He has worked closely with a guy here in AUS for am XC60T6 stage 3/4 build that sounds like a supercar on take off....So maybe ill reach out.....
Thank you, the turbo is 6062 GT40. Mid size turbo. It's on boost almost immediately depending on the gear. If you can get an electronic supercharger to give you 2-3 psi, it is worth it ok, that will allow that 4.4 to act like a 5.2 haha I've had this one at 7psi and it rips, feel like a huge engine. Good luck.
That looks amazing man the work done is super intricate. Goodluck!
Hi there are lots if areas that I covered over and over so not much left in hindsight, I think it is very eye pleasing too. Thank you
oh man I need to know what turbo and how you got it to fit! That engine compartment is tight!!!
I tried a few turbos. This is a GT40 6062 size, don't go too small , there is a way to fit a midsized turbo. Do you think people would buy a manifold if I build some?
@@JRMatGingermanif you started building the manifolds I feel like every v8 Volvo owner would want one. That would give you a great platform to build a business off of, I would for sure buy one especially if it was a kit that came with the turbo and tubing as well
I too have a V8. executive edition with entertainment system and massage seats and quad exhaust. I would love to get this set uo. I'm in NY and was offered to get it done in N.C. @JRMatGingerman
I have a ocean race xc90 I'd be interested
I would 100% buy one 😊 Also is there anyone to have the turbo sit in the engine bay ?
I super appreciate this solution, very imaginative!. But I'm not clear on exactly what your are pointing out in the treatment of the MAF wiring from the OEM clip to the new MAF location. You specifically mentioned twisting the wire strands. As an example: do I cut off the OEM clip, extend the strands with similar size gauge and twist the conductors together for the length of the extension? Secondly, what pipe did you use to house the MAF in the new position? @lcfpolestar
Awesome ❤
Well I just nutted, I had a 07 S80 V8 and dreamed of doing this and now that someone has it makes me wanna do it even more!! I’m gonna find me another one ☝🏻
Well done! Excited to see what it can do with a bit of tuning😲
Hi, the filter is nowhere near hot turbo air, it sits in an ambient air cavity, I've isolated the aircharge temperature I think you may have missed that. If you have a factory airbox the piping gets incredibly hot going by the header heatshield, I probed temps above 140F just 12 inches before the turbo inlet, the air at the IAT is not the same as it is downstream in heat soak city by the header. Let it sink in and maybe try it. The car is stock and has benefitted from this mod. Spool up is faster with a short intake. I do appreciate the comments.
What the price for a engine & gearbox
I would love to put one of these in my 88 Pontiac Fiero.
i’m gonna put one in my Alfa Romeo 4C
I have a couple friends that want to put an s1000 motor in an f1000 car, but are stuck on the ecu. Any advice?
It took me a long time to sort out. Could duplicate for about 12-15k with bmw stuff, 8-9k with haltech
