NK65 Milkshake | Modding & Sound Test
Readme!
My addiction to custom keyboards started with this one board. I wanted to keep it as original as I could but I still wanted it to sound better than it does.
Watch as I very minorly mod the NK65 Milkshake!
I'd love any feedback you have so do comment down below what you'd like to see in the future :)

Readme! Hi ya! Thank you for joining me on a new adventure into the custom keyboard scene. I hope you enjoy your stay here on my channel! I'll be posting more content in different filming styles to further improve my skills in video editing and production. I'd love any feedback you have so do comment down below what you'd like to see in the future :) 0:00 - Start 0:30 - Disassembling 4:20 - New...
Super nice video ! Thx. Why not making more content? Like your style very much
Hi, i’d like to know what kind of screw set and automatic screw thingy you’re using. ‘cause it’s cool. Thanks!
Amazing video and representation! I recently got my K2 a week or two ago, and I wanted to mod it so badly. It sounds great on its own, but I can make it better. This is the perfect tutorial! Also, does this work on the K2 V2? I have red Gatorons too, not brown. Also, what switches do you recommend for the best creamy and thock sounds?
I’ve been planning on modding my K2, but this honestly inspired me to do it sooner than I thought! Thank you for showing how to disassemble, that was honestly my biggest worry.
What is the white square thing on the PCB at 3:17. Its between the index and middle finger
Shouldn't use masking tape unless if it's the least adhesive type. Did anybody try medical tape for the pcb?
nice video
Tah
Mine is k2 ver 1.2, really struggled to change the switch because it was soldered
im under the impression that masking tape or any kind of painters tape is a bad idea because of the battery in the k2. However, electrical tape should be fine!
Excellent. This what I will be doing this weekend. I now have a guide to refer to. And by the way, thanks for cutting the tape mod rather than ripping it, I mean what sort of a person would just tear it roughly and leave it like that. 😮
because honestly who cares it's not really much of a difference anyway
You removed the battery cable so easily I couldn’t remove it😭
Dis u find how now?
Im stuck too😢
@@crackgames7330 i quite it but if you have a equipment that he used to removed it you can do it like him
@@StrangerDanger352 i find out how to do it
@@StrangerDanger352 i asked my dad and je did it lmao
Perfect timing! I', looking to replace my switches as Im noticing a scatchy pingy sound coming from a few keys.
i just got the K2 myself. i taped up the back and added foam to the base. thanks for showing me how to take apart and reassemble all of the components.
Ooooh, good job! I can already imagine how good that would sound! :>
Great video! I've been enjoying my K2 and I'm about to start doing some simple mods. As a bonus, the music and vibes of the vid are top-notch.
Thank you for the kind words :3 Have fun with the mods! Try not to get too carried away or you'll end up in this expensive hobby 🥲
Just ordered mine ytd as my first build. It sounds pretty imo. It's just a drawback that it doesn't support cable.
I agree! As someone who really enjoys tri-mode keyboards, the absence of a cable would be rather odd. But this goes out to the users with a lack of USB ports, or would rather Bluetooth and/or Wireless entirely. A real banger of a board.
i wanna buy tes68 and mod but what if i dont lube ? is there any problem +where did you buy these gateron switches ?
Hi ya! I'm assuming you're talking about the TES68 by CIY and NuPhy. Usually when you buy a prebuilt board, you can opt to not lube the switches as it is not a problem. Although you might find the keys a little scratchier and and the stabilisers having the rattle sound. You would find a smoother experience lubing and tuning them, but it should be completely fine unlubed as well :> The gateron switches can be found at various places, but for these one I went to my local keyboard store to pick them up. They're relatively cheap :>
@@knz. Okay, thanks a lot! I have one last question. What if i do only band-aid mod, will this useful alone too?
@@trotsky4955 As the stabs are plate mounted, you actually don't band-aid mod them :>
@@knz. sorry but i didnt understand, my keyboard knowledge is very low. Is band-aid mod bad, unnecessary without lube ?
@@trotsky4955 Nono, don't worry! There are generally two kinds of stabilisers, plate mounted and PCB mounted (Screw-in/clip-ins...). In this case, we're using plate mounted. So the point of band-aid modding is to dampen the sound of the stabilisers hitting the pcb. As for me I don't feel the need of band-aid modding as it doesn't cause any rattle with the pcb. In your case, I personally feel like the rattle will still occur because the stabilisers are not lubed and tuned. So band-aid modding won't change it significantly. TLDR: It is not "bad" but unnecessary, as it will still consistently rattle without lubing and tuning.
